Following Harvard, Charles worked in corporate and product development at CNET Networks, an internet media company in San Francisco. In 2005, he received a J.D./ M.A. degree from The University of Virginia. During law school, he served as notes development editor of the Virginia Law Review and won the Best Note Award for his student note, “Common Sense and Legal Science.” After graduating, he clerked for Judge Robert D. Sack of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He was a Climenko Fellow and lecturer at Harvard Law School. Charles joined the faculty at the University of Virginia School of Law in 2008. His areas of interest include constitutional law, torts, evidence and the history of legal thought. Charles also serves as faculty advisor for the Dual-Degree (J.D./M.A.) Program in legal history. Andy Buckingham ’98 Andy Buckingham graduated from St. George’s in 1998 and went on to St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science and was the captain of a three-time national champion sailing team. He is an independent oil explorer and has participated in nearly 400 conventional oil and gas wells in the past decade, only exploring high EROEI (energy returned on energy invested) domestic prospects/ new conventional trends. Andy became a founding partner in Growing Grace, a business strategy development firm focusing on soil and body nutrition, in 2008. He was an early investor in Daily Juice South Texas and an original investor in Rhythm Superfoods LLL, which produces alternative snacks, such as kale and beet-based chips. Andy lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Erin, and stepson, Jack. They love to travel and try to get in a healthy dose of fishing and sailing wherever they go. Rohan Gopaldas ’98 Rohan Gopaldas graduated from St. George’s in 1998. Along with serving as an advisor and account manager for saltmine, a workplace design platform, he is the CEO and co-founder of Gamer Sensei, a venture-backed platform that links coaches with video gamers looking to improve their skills and strategy at games such as League of Legends and Fortnite. Prior to Gamer Sensei, Rohan spent his career in the hospitality industry working at companies such as Marriott, Inter-Continental, Starwood, Taj & Burger King. Rohan earned a bachelor’s degree in hotel administration from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Brooks Hagan ’93 Brooks Hagan graduated from St. George’s in 1993. He is a textile designer, artist and researcher, and works with firms such as Pallas Textiles and Mulberry Silk (India) and technology leaders such as Apple Inc. A current project with computer scientists at Cornell University and Stanford University investigates advanced visualization for the design of constructed textiles and is funded by a $1.2M grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). In 2015 Hagan co-founded the textile technology company Computational Textiles Inc, which was awarded NSF SBIR support to catalyze private sector commercialization of the most promising technological innovations. Computational Textiles launched its first software product, Weft, in 2017. Hagan’s research with the Virtual Textile Research Group investigates historical industrial textile processes and 3D weaving for rapid prototyping. Hagan collaborates with many fine artists and works with the Dieu Donne Papermill to explore paper materials and textiles. He is an Associate Professor at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and has served as Graduate Program Director and Acting Head of RISD’s Textile Department. Rob Larkin ’98 Robby Larkin is a husband, father and entrepreneur. Since leaving the Hilltop in the spring of 1998, Robby’s path has been anything but linear. Robby continued his academic journey at the University of Colorado, Boulder, studying mechanical engineering and economics and later at the Acton School of Business earning an MBA in entrepreneurship. Robby has traveled the world’s oceans aboard aircraft carriers as a project manager for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, became a pilot, helped scale an oil & gas exploration fund, and co-founded several food businesses including the largest kale chip manufacturer in the world. He helped a 10-year-old launch a one-for-one first aid company, attempted to turn around a soap business, rolled out a bulk amenity program for Vail Resorts, and now works with a boutique investment company in Boulder, Colorado, where he lives with his wife, Joy, and son Trey. Most weekends you can find Robby and his family exploring the mountains of Colorado. Melina Martin ’99 After graduating from St. George’s in 1999, Melina received a B.S. in sociology from Villanova University and a master’s in clinical social work from Columbia University. Melina began her career as a social worker at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in the Division of Hematology in 2007. Melina works in the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center where she specializes in the psychosocial needs of patients and families living with bleeding and clotting disorders. She has significant experience working with patients with chronic medical conditions, as well as working with adolescents. Additionally, she has experience working in CHOP’s Emergency Department through the Sexual Abuse Response Team (SART). Melina values continuous learning and supervises other CHOP social workers who are seeking their professional clinical license. She has presented formally and informally across various settings throughout her career. Most recently she presented to state legislators at Hemophilia Advocacy Day in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In her free time she thoroughly enjoys travel, photography, food and visiting her friends throughout the world. Chris McNally ’93 Chris McNally graduated from St. George’s in 1993 and then earned a bachelor’s degree in marine biology from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, before returning to Newport. After 15 years in a multitude of roles in the maritime industries, including seven years as mate and captain of Geronimo, he earned his J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law. He is married to Kelly McNally and the couple has two boys: Owen, 10, and Gavin, 7. As a professional mariner, licensed by the U.S.C.G. and (RYA/MCA) Chris also remains actively involved in the local and national Maritime industry. He maintains and still finds some time to sail on both his U.S.C.G. 500 Ton Master and R.Y.A. 200 Ton Yacht Master licenses, both with Oceans Endorsements. Practice Areas: “I consider myself to be a passionate advocate for my clients, taking the time necessary to understand their unique challenges which often involve multiple elements of my practice. Interestingly, much of my caseload allows me to apply skills and prospective garnered from my pre-law career as a biologist and yacht captain. I have a strong focus in maritime and immigration law, and also practice environmental law, land use, and business organization. My practice is closely tied to that which I am passionate: the ocean and our connection with it. Accordingly, I am actively engaged with and sit on a number of boards and commissions whose missions are closely aligned with my own.” Anissa Roberts ’00 Anissa Roberts, who graduated from St. George’s in 2000, recently founded Cultivare LLC, a consulting firm focused on transcendental business strategy for companies and projects that are seeking to optimize operations while creating a transformative shift in the world. She has more than 13 years of experience as an investment professional focused on private debt and equity and has also held operational roles as director of capital investments and director of strategic finance at on-the-ground start-ups in Mexico and Kenya.
