[email protected] ABSTRACT — The Tenuipalpidae are small, slow-moving, flat, red or green phytophagous mites that, despite the eco- nomic importance of some species, has been studied much less than the Tetranychidae. They have a great number of host plants including cultivated plants, ornamentals, fruit crops and forest trees. The aim of this study was to determine the species composition of tenuipalpid mites in the northern part of Iran, Mazandaran province. More than 150 plant species belonging to 41 families were inspected for possible infestation with tenuipalpid mites, among which 28 plant species were infested. Most of the infested plants are new records for the respective mite species. A total of 14 species of tenuipalpid mites belonging to five genera were collected and identified. Though citrus is the major fruit crop grown in Mazandaran province, flat spider mites were not yet reported from it in this area. In addition to this faunistic study, a male of Cenopalpus rubusi, which was collected on Rubus persicus Boiss., is described for the first time. Esula with about 480 species is one of the most diverse and complex lineages of the giant genus Euphorbia . Species of this subgenus are usually herbaceous and are mainly distributed in temperate areas of the Northern Hemisphere. Th is paper updates the taxonomy and distribution of Euphorbia (subgen. Esula ) sect. Helioscopia in Iran since the publication of ‘ Flora Iranica ’ in 1964. We provide a key, species descriptions, illustrations (for most species), distribution maps, brief characterization of ecology as well as relevant notes for the 12 species of this section occurring in Iran. As a result of this revision, E. altissima var. altissima is reported as new for the country, and a new species from northern Iran, Euphorbia mazandaranica , is described and illustrated. This paper is based on historical analyzing method where the authors could utilize primary sources to study social and economic states of urban life in Persian cities during Safavid. Farah Abad, Isfahan and Bandar Abbas in North, Center and South of Iran have been examined. These cities were selected considering their functional nature as producer, industrial (processor) and exporter centers. The outcome of the study shows that the cities founded and developed during Safavid, specially on Silk Road, during the reign of Shah Abbas I (996- 1038 AH), played the role of producer, distributer and exporter in north, center and south of Iran. Based on their functional capacities, cities of that era are divided into three types: producer of raw materials, intermediary and processing, and finally exporter (port) cities. The analysis of economic relations of those cities indicates that the king had despotic monopolization of all aspects of the cities where the urban economy deeply on agricultural economy of countryside. Denmark2 Introduction Pritchard (1949) refers to Tenuipalpus pacificus Baker as the phalaenopsis mite. This flat, red mite is one of the most destructive found on orchids under Florida greenhouse conditions. It feeds on the leaves of orchids but does not spin a web. Apparently it is an introduced species on orchids from the tropics. It can also be a pest of ferns. Distribution Tenuipalpus pacificus was described from specimens intercepted at Hoboken, New Jersey, from the Canal Zone on Phalaenopsis stuartiana in 1943 (Baker). The known distribution is Australia (New South Wales) (CSIRO 2004), Brazil (De Moraes and Freire 2001), Eng- land, Germany, Holland, Java, Panama, Philippines, Siam, South Africa, and the United States. In the United States, it has been recorded in California, Hawaii (Anonymous 2002), and Florida. It is probably Figure 1. Description The length of the adult female, including the rostrum, is 312 microns and 190 microns wide. The third terminal, palpal segment is small with one short, straight seta and one longer, slightly curved seta. These characters cannot be seen on unmounted specimens. The hysterosoma has four pairs of non-flagellate setae and one pair of flagellate 1. The objective of this project is to develop an agroecological zones framework for targeting germplasm to specific environments, formulating land use and land management recommendations, and assisting development planning. In view of the very diverse climates in this part of Iran, an agroclimatic zones map is of vital importance to achieve this objective. METHODOLOGY Spatial interpolation A database was established of point climatic data covering monthly averages of precipitation and temperature for the main stations in Iran, covering the period 1973-1998 (Appendix 1, Tables 2-3). These quality-controlled data were obtained from the Organization of Meteorology, based in Tehran. From Iran 126 stations were accepted with a precipitation record length of at least 20 years, and 590 stations with a temperature record length of at least 5 years. The database also included some precipitation and temperature data from neighboring countries, leading to a total database of 244 precipitation stations and 627 temperature stations. The ‘thin-plate smoothing spline’ method of Hutchinson (1995), as implemented in the ANUSPLIN software (Hutchinson, 2000), was used to convert this point database into ‘climate surfaces’.

The fact is that analysis of financial ratios provides little information.Accordingly, in this study by applying data envelopment analysis technique, efficiency of different branches of Sepah Bank in Mazanadaran in the year of 2009 is investigated. The results show that among 50 evaluated branches, only 5 branches located in Amol, Sari, Haraz Amol, Pasdaran and Gharen have 100 percent total efficiency and also the average efficiency of all branches is about 80 percent. Additionally, dividing the efficiency scores into two categories, that is pure technical efficiency and management efficiency, shows that in only 14 cases the size of management inefficiency is higher than criterion inefficiency and in the rest of cases criterion inefficiency caused by non-optimality of the bank size is the main cause of being inefficient. Finally, by determining pattern units for inefficient branches, the way of reaching the frontier efficiency is introduced for each of these branches. Several researchers have recorded a high abundance of Tenuipalpus heveae Baker, 1945 (Acari, Tenuipalpidae) in rubber tree plantations from different regions of Brazil. Currently this species is considered a mite pest for this crop. Tenuipalpus heveae was described only from female specimens collected on rubber tree from Belterra, State of Pará, Brazil. Recently, male and immatures were described. However, the original description of the female does not provide essential information (e.g. drawings of the dorsal ornamentation, venter, leg chaetotaxy and setal measurements), and thus, it may be difficult to correctly identify the species. In this paper, we re- describe the female of T. heveae in a standardized form, based on the study of the type specimens deposited at the Smithsonian Institution - USNM Insect & Mite Collection, at the Collection of Acari DZSJRP, and specimens collected in rubber tree plantations from different regions of Brazil.
