HIGH TEAS AVAILABLE TO COACH PARTIES WITH PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS ANDY'S ANGLE Good afternoon and a warm welcome to the Cannie pairt to the players and officials of Carnoustie Panmure for our cup-tie here today. The game today is shaping up to be a cracker, with Carnoustie pushing us all the way in the league and BUILDER & JOINER having an excellent run in the . Their confidence must be running high. The fortunes of our opponents have changed dramatically this season. last season they were not playing to their true potential. I say this because, in my opinion, CARNOUSTIE Carnoustie have always had good players at the club. The problem was the application of these players and the big difference now is obviously the appointment of Kenny Cameron snr. as team advisor. Although this is a strange title, his experience of the Senior game has brought them valuable qualities. These qualities 01241 859838 include discipline, fitness, organisation and most of all, his tactical awareness which is top drawer. He has the ability to make decisive changes to formation and personnel during a game that can turn the eventual outcome to their advantage. r------, This coupled to some astute signings such as KC jnr and Darren Bonella makes this Carnoustie team a different proposition altogether. I'm sure David Laing will be : NATIONAL : happy that he is now seeing some return for his involvement over the past few years as Carnoustie's main custodian. In last week's game against Elmwood we were pushed all the way. You may think : HOUSE : this is a strange statement, taking into account the eventual scoreline. The way the game was played meant there was no quarter asked or given. As the game was so I I physical, there was no fluency in either side's play and this led to the game being stopped on a regular basis for infringements committed by both teams which, in a : BUILDERS : football sense, made it a less entertaining game than in previous weeks. I was still pleased with our performance as we worked hard and attempted to do the . I I right things. We also showed we could adapt to combat the style of our opponents I APPROVED , I and competed very well on the day. Another positive outcome of the game was that our discipline was superb under difficult circumstances. L------.J I would like to finish my comments on today's game by setting my players a HOME IMPROVEMENTS • ATTIC CONVERSIONS challenge. In the past some of them have expressed a concern about the real lack of quality competition. This won't be a problem today as Carnoustie will push them to (➔ . ·- the limit. The benefits for the winners of this game will be a huge psychological advantage over their opponents, which would set them up for the rest of the season 'FORGET THE REST - and there can be no greater incentive than that. As the Tayport team advisor, it is my job to make sure that we are the ones who are GET THE BEST' in the position of taking that advantage out of this game. Forward Davie Evans found the net for the fourth ~MHMHi successive game, notching a quickfire brace, in the opening six minutes. This double virtually sealed the ~MHMH1 points before 'Wood had settled into the match. The hard-working visitors, backed up by a determined keeper, managed to keep things relatively tight for the ~NHMHi next hour, until slackness gave Ronnie Kenneth the opportunity to stab home the third goal. ~MHM~~ Tayport's leading marksman OPENSEVEN DAYS iiiiiiiiiiii;;;;;;;;;;;;;iiiiiiiii ~M Mi then added another gem to his collection, with a superb LUNCHAND DINNER MENUS ~H fourth, which left Fraser PRIVA1'EPARTIES • WIN'TER DINING DEAL ~M Mi Mann stranded. Jeanfield pulled off the result of the last round, winning at Longside but, even with home advantage , they are likely to struggle at home to Downfield. Spiders to go through. Glentanar are flying high in the Bakery North's Division One but their Concept aspirations will surely shudder to a halt at North End Park, although Dokens' two goal heroes last week are out, Dave Reilly is cup-tied and Graham Nico Davidson is injured. The only all North tie between Cutter and Fraserburgh should be a ttOME BAKERY and SNACK ding dong affair. The teams are level on points in 2nd and 3rd spots in division one and met only last week at the Broch, with the locals winning 2-0. Home advantage could swing it with BAR penalties maybe needed. The Arbroath SC v Formartine tie is postponed until next week or 58 -64 BYRON STREET, DUNDEE probably even the week after. Yourhome is at riskif you do notkeep up repayments on a mottgogeor loan secured on it Veterans Fight back To Win Spider's All Stars 1 Tayport FC Veterans XI 2 48 years old striker Ian Howe was the hero for the Vets. at Gussie Park last Friday when he hit the winning goal against the All Stars. Howser was a major doubt during the week but some treatment for a knee injury from physio Andy Bell at the Canniepairt on Thursday nightenabled him to make a remarkable recovery and take his place in the stiflies line-up - albeit as subby. Downfield boss Gary Strachan, Ronnie Rice, PE teachers Dave Nicoll and Ronnie Stewart were the senior members of a more youthful UNION STREET Spider's XI which led at half-time. Howe and Dave Baikie were on for the second half and the fresh strike force quickly made its mark. DUNDEE Baikie slipped the ball through to Doug Henderson whose pass across 01382 - 223011 goal was missed by Howe but a luckless defender didn't and his own goal gave 'Port the lead. The winner came midway through the half when Bert Valentine, better known for penning letters to The Courier than his football these days, picked up a clearance at the edge of the box and crashed a shot again.st the post, leaving PORT COMPUTERS Howe the easy task of tapping the rebound into an empty net. 33 CASTLE STREET II Tayport - Ian Lyall, Colin Gray, TAYPORT L1.ll t Ur Llillili Ian Mathers, Alan Hart, Dennis TEL. 07788573914 Loftus, Jim Downie, Dougie Cook, Gordon Hughes, Doug Henderson, c.New Co»1pute1rs CJiuiQt 'J'o t.A11~~ pee., WilulLWit t t Bruce Burnett, Brian Cosgrove, Second User Comput ers, • SELF-SERVICE Ian Howe, Dave Baikie, Bert Val Upgra des & Accessories, entine. • SERVICEWASHES Comput er Repairs Player/manager Ian Mathers ex • IRONINGSERVICE Monitor Repairs , pressed satisfaction with his Andy Bell - World Cup veterans • FULLLAUNDRY team's performance and indicated and Tayport veterans - all in a days Printer Repairs , that players such as Jim Bissett work for the Tayport FC & Dundee SERVICEAVAILABLE Maintenance & Upgrades , who were unavailable could strug FC physio gle to regain their places for the Networki ng & Maintenance 272 PERTH ROAD Contracts. • next joint creaking exercise. Prize in this week's Tayport FC Super Six Lottery is £2,000. Since Tayport DALGLEISH STREE:r • TAY."PORT introduced this lottery format over five years ago, a host of clubs, both Senior Telephone: 01382 552388 and Junior , including Carnoustie, have copied the format. Best wishes to Tayport committee member Bert Irvine who retired yesterday ♦♦♦, from ABB Nitran (fornerly Bonar Long) after 43 years at their Kingsway factory. BAR LUNCHES Scott Peters , a target for Tayport last season has joined Kirrie from Arbroath FC. Cumnock manager Sanny McAnespie paid the price of OVD Cup failure at Newtongrange with his job. The Townhead Park club lost again last Saturday, 3-1 at Beith when they had yet another player ordered off, and have now . - ♦♦♦ slipped into the league 's bottom four.

Prospects for change in the Junior game continue to gather momentum and it SELECTION OF now looks as if the Regions are in agreement for change. Said SJFA secretary Tom Johnston earlier this week - " The North was the last of the regions to discuss the· plans [six e:i,:istingregions merged into three] and, while clubs up REAL ALES ALWAY.S ON T~P there are in the process of some internal restructuring, they came out in favour .. of the proposals. There have already been meetings between representatives of .. t the Ayrshire and Central Leagues to discuss the setting up of a new West of # • Scotland Region which would encompass clubs from both these leagues and we ....JI'.- .- appear to enjoy considerable support for changes along the proposed lines. ~-. ,;• "Obviously there is still a lot of discussion ahead and the exact format of the f new leagues has still to be worked out. But we hope to hold a meeting of' the -· ,. ~ i' clubs concerned next month and, all going well, we should have some concrete 1,,. proposals to put before the AGM in July" ~i.. Internet surfers can't help from noticing that the club's website hasn't been \o· updated for months ( we apologise but it's outwith the club's control). However plans are afoot to get a new one up and running. Details of developments will be posted on the newsline and in the programme. ., ' • CONSULTANCY• • SYSTEMDESIGN & BUILD• • COMPRESSEDAIR MANAGEMENT • (LEASE/HIREPACKAGES)
