engcon sets new record for grab width

Integrated grabs are becoming increasingly popular as an option – and with the latest updates engcon is setting new records in grab width. With engcon's largest tiltrotator, the EC30 and type GR30 grab, you can achieve the world's absolutely largest grab widths at 1,080 mm.

The latest update of the GR20, now termed GR20B, also allows an increase of the grab width. Depending on the hitch, the grab width varies from 820 mm (S1 and S60), and up to 950 mm (S2 and S70). Other big-sellers are the small grabs GR05 and GR10, which were upgraded earlier. The newcomer and the specially-designed railway grab GR20RR (Grab 20 Rail Road) have in only a short period of time been appreciated by con- tractors specialising in railway work. The downwardly-angled grab section makes life easier for sleeper replacement using an . The GR20RR in combination with the Generation 2 tiltrotators give a nearly vertical grip on the material to be moved. It is a significant advantage for a rail-based excavator that cannot be repositioned.

6 Good marks for the new EC226

When we arrive in Kuortane, Finland, around 130 km east of Vaasa, we're met by a steady stream of trucks and tractors along Paukkulantie street. As we progress we can see why: there are two Hitachi excavators working on a street project digging up bad material, which is being replaced with good material.

7 The Tiltrotator makes the impossible possible

Along Highway 365, around 35 kilometres north of Lycksele in northern Sweden we find contractor Per-Åke Markstedt working on a big weather protection project for his client, the power company Skellefteå Kraft. We meet him and his two colleagues Ingemar Enqvist and Mårten Forslund, as they have just crossed the river of Vindelälven and are laying the high-tension cable in the steep and stony bank that the bridgehead consists of. “Without the Tiltrotator this would have been just about impossible”, says Per-Åke Markstedt.

10 Lars Svensson took the opportunity to expand the grader properly onto the uneven road surface. Meter after meter are graded at a steady tempo, leaving a finely graded road his contracting business in 2008 when the surface behind. Thanks to the Easygrader the road is quickly prepared for the Highways Authority reconstructed the road timber trucks that soon will be arriving to pick up timber following felling at the end of the road. that passes his property. Now he's frequently being used for road maintenance in the Sunnesbyn area – with his latest favourite being the new Drivex Easygrader. “That was what was missing to further in- crease the tractor's area of use”, says Lars Svensson.

Lars runs Sunnesbyn Charolais together with his partner Ulla. The farm, lying outside Gällö in Jämtland County, was taken over by Lars after his parents already in 1978. Back then it was a traditional farmstead with dairy cattle, but since 1990 they have been concentrating on raising beef cattle. There are now around 150 head of cattle on the farm, which employs three people in addition to Lars and Ulla. Lars has also built up a contracting business. “I've always been involved in contracting, and in 2008 when the Highways Authority rebuilt the road past the house they needed more machine services”, explains Lars.

Invested He took the opportunity to buy a wheel loader and opened a quarry which supplied the Highways Authority with crushed material. “It was a great time and a welcome addition to the farm. And I've still got my own gravel for my own roads, and the machines to look after them”. This winter Lars has fitted one of his farm tractors with yet another tool which will increase the tractor's usage: the Drivex Easygrader blade. “When my tractor supplier Jämt-Maskin showed me the Easygrader brochure, ”Many people and the film on Drivex' YouTube channel, I didn't hesitate. “That was what was have asked me missing to further increase the tractor's area of use”, says Lars. to take care of New projects No sooner said than done – there's now an Easygrader with hydraulic widening the upkeep of on his MF7495. “Many people have since asked me to take care of the upkeep of their their roads”, says roads”, Lars continues, who now has the job of maintaining several private Lars Svensson. roads as well as a number of nearby villages. This really is a precision job: excavating a 50 year-old sewer pipe that is pressed against newer water pipes and cables in the same conduit. 12 engcon to create a company in Denmark

On 1st January 2013 engcon launched a Danish subsidiary, engcon Denmark A/S. “We've been active in the Danish market for nearly ten years now. With the positive develop- ment that we've had it feels very special that we are now getting to make our mark by starting a Danish-registered company”, says sales manager Henrik Bolting.

Sales and aftermarket have up to now been run through a sales office directly under engcon Sweden's banner, using the Swedish corporate identification number. Now a legal entity in the form of a Danish company has been started. The name of the company will remain the same as it has been for a number of years, with the addition of A/S (limited share company) to the name. engcon Denmark A/S will continue operation with the same personnel as previously with sales manager Henrik Bolting and Kenn Andersen, responsible for after-market matters. Expanding engcon Denmark A/S additionally continues its good work together with its service partner Martin Marxen, who with his company Halsted Maskin- service has been responsible for just about all field servicing and fitting on-site with the customer. engcon Denmark A/S was additionally planning expansion during the spring with new and slightly larger premises. “Yes, we'll be further expanding our stores area prior to anticipated in- creased sales of engcon, Drivex and Mählers' products on the Danish market”, explains Kenn Andersen who already now manages a sizeable storage facility covering the majority of the engcon range.

Ice-ripping blade that surprises a veteran

After 27 years as a machine operator – 15 of which in a road grader – you'd think that nothing ought to surprise and impress Kjell Larsson. However, he was somewhat confused by the Drivex ice-ripping blade. “I couldn't really believe ripping ice with a wheel loader could be so effective”.

14 Drivex best seller upgrade

Drivex T-250 front sweeper, is one of the market's most efficient collector machines for wheeled loaders and tractors developed for professional users. The new and upgraded T-250B gets the job done both faster and more efficiently.

The T-250 front sweeper quickly gained popularity with its large collector volume and large water tank, which increased capacity through fewer offloads. And when the machine is lifted for offloading, the drum stops rotating, and rises automatically. The drum's suspension and brush design give maximum terrain following and an excellent cleaning result, even at high speeds. Brushes can be re- placed quickly and easily thanks to the unique modular brush suspension.

With the upgraded T-250B the performance is improved even further:

+ New hydraulic package distributes the oil evenly and makes it easier to retro-fit an edging brush on the left-hand side.

+ If double edge brushes are fitted they can be individually controlled. The edge brush speeds can also be controlled independently of each other.

+ New, stronger motor connectors on the drum.

+ Improved filter on the drum air cylinder.

Clean-up time!

Together with a tiltrotator engcon's front sweeper becomes a multi-purpose and efficient tool that quickly becomes a 'must'. In the summer it can be used, for example, to collect road sand, sweep lawns, foundations, walls and rocks. In the winter it can be used to clear road crossings, pedestrian and cycle tracks, rail points and various types of roof.

Features and news:

+ Driven by a hydraulic motor and chain transmission. This allows a change in drum rotation speed.

+ The open construction makes it unequally service-friendly.

+ Has a new type of brush in a material that performs better in the cold, increased durability and stays in position better.

+ The intermediate rings/spacers have been replaced by wider brush rings, which enable a faster and easier brush replacement.
