ALABAMA HEADLINES COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA® DIVISION I FOOTBALL TEAMS

AUSTIN, Texas – Mac Jones, a graduate student quarterback from the , headlines the 2020-21 Academic All-America® Division I football teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Monday.

Jones has been named the 2020-21 Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for Division I football.

A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Jones graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies in December of 2019 and maintained a perfect 4.00 GPA. He then completed a master’s degree in sport hospitality a year later in December of 2020, finishing once again with a 4.00 GPA.

A consensus First Team All-American and the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Jones helped the top-ranked Crimson Tide capture the 2020 Playoff National Championship, posting an NCAA-leading 201.1 and a 96.1 quarterback rating in Alabama’s perfect 13-0 season.

He set the NCAA -season record for completion percentage at 77.4 percent in 2020, completing 311 out of 402 attempts with 41 and an NCAA Division I-best 4,500 total passing yards.

Jones was one of four 2020 finalists and won the Davey O’Brien, Golden Arm and Manning Awards. He was drafted 15th overall by the in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

The 2020-21 Academic All-America® Division I Football Team features 12 members with a 4.00 GPA and 25 members with at least a 3.90 GPA as either undergraduate or graduate student-athletes. The 25 members on the first team have an average GPA of 3.90.

The 2020-21 Academic All-America® Division I Football Team has nine repeat selections from the 2019, 2018 and 2017 teams: Jake Chisholm (University of Dayton), Ezra Gray (Alabama State), Charlie Kolar (Iowa State University), Blaise Andries (University of Minnesota), Wes Genant (South Dakota State University), Rick Mottram (Bucknell University), Spencer DeMedal (Duquesne University), Kekaula Kaniho (Boise State University) and K.J. Smith (University of North Alabama).
