It’s an old adage but it still rings true. As we draw closer to the end of another season, it’s an important period for league and clubs alike to review the year and identify opportunities moving forward. Some of that reviewing and subsequent decision-making has already commenced. As some of you will have read, last week it was announced that ahead of the 2020 season the approach to the player points model is set to change, with consideration of ‘sustained success’ (thus potentially being reduced a point(s)) and/or ‘distinct disadvantage’ (for whatever reason) that may potentially warrant an additional point(s). As mentioned, this is a model used extensively throughout Victoria and comes with the majority support of WRFL senior clubs.
