The Literary and Historical Afterlife of Qiao Zhou n what is surely one of the classic understatements in the history of I .sinology, Winston Yang declared, In China, far more people have read [Luo Guanzhong’s 羅貫中] Elaboration [Sanguo [zhi] yanyi 三國志演義 (Extended Meanings of the Records of the Three States)]1 than Chen Shou’s 陳壽 (233–297) Chron- icle [Sanguo zhi 三國志 (Records of the Three States)], and far more Chinese have gained some knowledge of the history of the Three Kingdoms period from the novel than from the official history.2 Now, Yang’s claim may be said to have gone global, with numerous illustrated books, comics, television series, movies, and video games based on Extended Meanings translated into Asian and Western languages and hotly discussed on worldwide internet forums. The widespread acceptance of Extended Meanings as “history” is problematic but not surprising; the text has long been regarded as a sort of popular history. Jiang Daqi’s 江大器 preface to the earliest extant edition (dated 1494) claimed that the intent of the work was to correct the “contemptible and erroneous language” and “wild fiction” of blind storytellers who narrated Three States 三國 (220–280) history,3 and to 1 The attribution of the text to Luo (ca. 1315/18–ca. 1400) is much later than the earliest edi- tion, and the issue of authorship remains hotly debated. These marginalia texts, casual in style, diverse in content, and rarely circulated widely in public before the Song, gained remarkable popularity from mid-eleventh century onwards and were compiled and published in large quantities.

Avem femei rele, frumoase, puternice şi mame iubitoare. Femeile rele nu doar provoacă intrigă, dar dăunează bărbatului şi afectează cariera acestuia. Femeile frumoase sunt uneltele bărbatului în conflictele politice sau metodă de relaxare. Femeile puternice reprezintă sacrificiile legilor feudale. Mamele iubitoare trebuie să fie responsabile întru datoria faţă de societate. Femeile reprezintă mâna dreaptă a bărbatului, autorul deseori descriind caracteristicile acestora pe parcur- sul romanului. Imaginile create sunt etichetate şi sunt considerate ca fiind rezultatul cuvintelor bărbatului. Aceasta reflectă ideologia şi intenţiile acelui timp şi tendinţa estetică a autorului. I. Sum up the question The Three Kingdoms, attributed to Luo Guanzhong, with the Dream of the Red Chamber, Outlaws of the Marsh, Journey to the West, are the four ancient famous romances, which were translated into several foreign languages, including Japanese, Russian, English, German, etc. It was coming into being at the end of Yuan Dynasty (1206-1368) and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The romance, 120 chapters alto- gether, was based on the Annals of the Three Kingdoms, written by Chen Shou, who lived in the Jin Dynasty (265-420). So about 30% of the fiction is true, and 70% is imaginary. The fiction described the warfare among the different political groups in the special period in the end of Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220).

2020 3rd International Conference on Education Technology and Social Science (ETSS 2020) On jingzhou and Kingdom of Shu Han Regime Tang Xinzhao School of History and Culture, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan 61000 Keywords: Shu Han Dynasty; Jingzhou; Strategic vision Abstract: Possession of Jingzhou was originally the established policy of the Shu-Han dynasty group, that is, under the premise of uniting with the Sun-Wu group, the Cao-Wei regime was northern expedition from Jingzhou and Yizhou to achieve the goal of seizing the central plains and realize Liu Bei's Wang Ba career. However, for Liu Bei, the sun Wu clique headed by sun quan is not a reliable ally. For Jingzhou region, sun quan and his advisers are also salivating over it and have included possession of Jingzhou in their strategic plan. With the success of the Sunwu Group's attack on Jingzhou and the failure of Liu Beidong's conquest of Wu, the entire Shu-Han regime finally had to adjust its strategic objectives. From then on, it no longer needed to occupy Jingzhou, but was satisfied with its own occupation of Yizhou and took the northern expedition from Yizhou to the Cao-Wei regime. 1. Introduction Possession of Jingzhou region was originally a strategic goal put forward by Zhuge Liang when he met Liu Bei in Longzhong in his early years. Therefore, Liu Bei Group actively occupied Jingzhou region after the Chibi War. After seizing Yizhou and Hanzhong, Liu Bei Group's strength also grew. However, with its ally Sun Quan backing the alliance and attacking Jingzhou, Liu Bei's power was damaged.

China : Delegates Selected to the 19Th Party Congress
28 July 2017 CHINA : DELEGATES SELECTED TO THE 19TH PARTY CONGRESS by JAYADEVA RANADE Preparations for the 19th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) which, according to credible reports is likely to be held towards the end of October 2017, are well underway. The election of 2,300 Delegates to the Party Congress from 40 electoral blocs has virtually been completed. 2,270 Delegates were elected to the 18th Party Congress in November 2012. 1,909 Delegates for the 19th Party Congress representing Central Departments directly under the CCP Central Committee (CC), Central State organs, the Central Enterprise system and the provinces and centrally-administered Municipalities, have been elected. The Politburo Standing Committee (PBSC) members are, as per practice, all Delegates to the 19th Party Congress. Pertinently and possibly because of the focus this year on poverty alleviation, all PBSC members represent the poorer provinces. Xi Jinping is the Delegate from Guizhou, Li Keqiang from Guangxi, Zhang Dejiang from Inner Mongolia, Yu Zhengsheng from Xinjiang, Liu Yunshan represents Yunnan, Wang Qishan is the Delegate from Hunan and Zhang Gaoli from Shaanxi. The list of Delegates representing the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and People’s Armed Police Force (PAP) has not yet been released. At the 18th Party Congress in 2012 there were a total of 251 Delegates, or 10% of the total number, representing the PLA and 49 representing the PAP. The Hongkong media has pointed out at least eight prominent omissions from the list of Delegates to the upcoming Congress. All are either Full or Alternate members of the 18th CCP Central Committee and all are, interestingly, past members of the Communist Youth League (CYL).

Welcome to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms Podcast. This is episode 149. Last time, the armies of Wei were closing in on the Shu capital Chengdu. The Shu commander Jiang Wei was mounting a stiff defense against the forces led by Zhong Hui at the Saber Pass, the main road leading to Chengdu. But unbeknownst to Jiang Wei, the other Wei commander, Deng Ai, had led a small detachment of troops on a daring trek across treacherous mountain terrain to sneak around him. Now, Deng Ai was on his way to attack Chengdu. The Shu emperor Liu Shan asked his courtiers what he should do. Most of the officials had no ideas. One official, Xi (4) Zheng (4), stepped forward and said, “With the situation so dire, your highness should summon the son of the Marquis of Wu (3) to discuss how to repel the enemy.” The Marquis of Wu (3), of course, was Zhuge Liang, and his son was named Zhuge Zhan (1). Zhuge Zhan was known for his intelligence even as a child, but really, how could he not? I mean, the guy is the child of Zhuge Liang, and as we discussed in the supplemental episode on Zhuge Liang, his mother was also known for her talent and might’ve been even smarter than Zhuge Liang. Later, Zhuge Zhan was married to Liu Shan’s daughter, making him the emperor’s son-in-law, and he assumed his father’s marquiship. In the year 261, he was promoted to acting supervisory general, but when Huang Hao began to control the affairs of the court, Zhuge Zhan decided to just stay home on the pretext of illness.
