Peace and joy from Fr. Augusne Peter to the Parishioners of St. Ann, St. Philip and St. Patrick. I am happy to meet you through this message. Month of October is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. The family prays together, stays together. This feast day was instuted by Saint Pius V in 1573 as a thanksgiving to God a er Chrisans had a victory over the Turks at Lepanto. Their victory was aributed to the praying of the rosary. In 1716, Clement XI extended the Feast to the Universal Church. It has been known that Mary gave the Rosary to Saint Dominic to help the people of the me to pray since at the me they did not have access to printed books or Bible. For this reason, the devoon of the Holy Rosary is a prayer centered in the mysteries of the Incarnaon, Passion, Death and Resurrecon of the Lord Jesus. The Rosary took its present form in the XVI century and in 2002, Pope St. John Paul II introduced the five mysteries of light to this devoon adding the mysteries of the ministry life of Jesus through which healing, forgiveness and reconciliaon took place in the midst of the realies and suffering of the people of Jesus' me. Looking into this devoon, one can appreciate that since it is centered in the mystery of Christ, this prayer can lead us to encoun- ter, love, serve and adore the Lord Jesus personally, and by doing that to extend the message of Jesus Christ to other people. In encountering the Lord Jesus, healing, forgiveness and reconciliaon takes place over and over again. This is why when we pray the Rosary we are le with a great sense of peace. This is how Today, our Blessed Mother and the Rosary connue serving the Mission of God. On this Feast Day of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, we are invited to give thanks to the Lord for allowing us to parcipate in this mis- sion and to ask the Lord to give us the wisdom, the courage, the freedom, and the generosity needed to connue parcipang in it. With prayers and wishes

THE MONTH OF OCTOBER: A SPECIAL MONTH FOR MARY AND THE MISSIONARIES OF THE SACRED HEARTS. The Parish administrator and the Parochial Vicar of St Ann’s in Kingstree (Rev Frs. Augusne Peter Arul MSSCC and Emeka Emmanuel Ekwelum MSSCC respecvely) are members of the Congregaon of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts of Je- sus and Mary founded by St. Gaetano Errico. Why is this month special to the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts? The founder of this noble Religious order was born on the 19th day of October 1791 and died on the 29th day of October 1860. His birth on earth and birth in Heaven happened in this special month. He was a very strong devotee of our Blessed Mother Mary.

Saint Gaetano Errico was an Italian Roman Catholic Priest, a nave of Secondigliano in , Italy. He was the second child of the nine children born to Pasquale Errico and Maria Marseglia. As a child, his mother took him to a parish to be blessed and the Priest who was to bless him looked at him and said: “This child will be a priest, a great teacher, he will be a saint and he will do good work in Secondigliano”. His desire to be a priest started when he was fourteen and his parents gave their consent be- cause they saw that his heart was inclined only to God and to the service of the Church.

As a Seminarian, because the parents were poor and could not afford to pay for his Seminary accommodaon fee, He walked five miles from home to the seminary for classes. During his studies, he made out me to visit the sick twice a week and will always encourage children to aend Catechism classes. He was ordained to the Priesthood in the Santa Restuta chapel in the Cathedral of Naples on the 23rd of September, 1815 by Cardinal Luigi Ruffo Scilla. He served in various pastoral capacies both as Teacher and Pastor. His vision of St Alphonsus Ligouri prompted him to found a new Religious Congregaon which he did in the year 1833 and on the 7th day of August 1846, the new Religious order received full Papal approval from Pope Pius IX.

His devoon to Our Blessed Mother Mary is so great that he named the Congregaon that he founded a er the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. A er his death on the 29th of October 1860, he was tled a Venerable on October 4th 1974, beafied by Pope St. John Paul II (one of the greatest Marian Popes) on April 14th, 2002 and was canonized on the 12th of October, 2008 by Pope Bene- dict XVI. In his life we see so many spectacular events circling around the month of October: His birth, death, Venerable tle and Canonizaon. May this great saint connue to intercede for us especially in this special Marian month of October. Amen.
