A special experience that brought our family closer together occurred one marvelous afternoon, made magical by the gift of laughter. Enchanting from the start, it began with a spine -tingling ride high atop the backbone of Ice Mountain. Our family could barely get enough of the crisp October air into our lungs. All the while, the glorious autumn sunshine warmed our spirits to the joy of complete abandonment. Blessedly, away from the busy world, we were alone on our own private mountain for a whole day. In union, white knuckled, clinging to the rope support and each other, we trembled as we crossed the rickety wooden foot bridge. Valiantly, we thrilled with the triumph of reaching the other side, high above the rushing stream. A family of God’s ageless children, we impetuously scampered with the squirrels among the leaves. Laughing ourselves silly, paying no attention to the staining walnut husks or green grass, we rolled pell-mell over and over down the sloping mountain side. As we breathlessly lay on our backs, we watched the painted cotton-balls roll our azure blue sky… a magnificent canvas. Grateful for that sparkle in time, I knew we could never again recapture those iridescent moments. For one afternoon we belonged to each other, hearts and souls. What joy! We were a family united in Christ, on a day born of Mother Nature. Perhaps that is how God feels when we spend time with Him. 10 the Messenger FAITH BEE??? BY PAULETTE NIDEL
