The Rochester Sentinel 1968 Tuesday, January 2, 1968 Marjorie Dice Mrs. Marjorie B. DICE, 74, Fulton, died at 12:15 a.m. today at Woodlawn hospital, after an illness of two years. Born Jan. 15, 1893, in Lebanon, she had lived in the Fulton community 23 years, moving there from Monticello. Mrs. Dice, a retired registered nurse, served 18 months with the Red Cross nursing corps during World War I. Her marriage was July 15, 1945, to Glen DICE, who survives. She was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary and attended the Fulton E.U.B. church. Also surviving are four step-children, Paul DICE, fulton; Mrs. Donald (Marjorie) WRAY, Logansport; Mrs. Kathryn MOW, Logansport, and Mrs. William (Betty) STEPHENS, Fort Worth, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. One grandchild preceded in death. Last rites will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Ditmire-Zimmerman funeral home in Fulton with the Rev. Philip ISGRIGG officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery at Monticello. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Christina Martin Christine MARTIN, 77, Fulton, died Monday at 2:30 a.m. at Woodlawn hospital, where she was admitted Dec. 28. Death came after a long illness that had become serious Thursday. Born March 12, 1890, in Stornoway, Scotland, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of Patrick and Mary McDONALD O’HARE. She had moved to the Fulton area in 1913 from Canada. Her marriage was Sept. 16, 1911, in Winnipeg, Canada, to Ruben S. MARTIN, who survives. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Fulton E.U.B. church. Also surviving are one son, Rolland [MARTIN], Gary; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane PODRAZ, Washington, D.C., and Miss Clara Bell MARTIN, at home; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Last rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Ditmire-Zimmerman funeral home at Fulton with Emerson WARD of Warsaw officiating. Burial will be in the Fulton cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. Martha A. Ruff Mrs. Martha A. RUFF, 67, 209 West Market street, Warsaw, was found dead at her home Saturday of a heart attack. She was a former Akron resident, moving to Warsaw 10 years ago. Born May 4, 1900, at Beaver Dam, she was the daugher of Jacob and Ida SHIREMAN ENGLE. She was a member of Senior Citizens club of Warsaw. Her Marriage was June 10, 1923, at Akron, to Curtis RUFF, who died in 1948. Surviving are two sons, Alvin and Marvin [RUFF], both of R.R. 1, Akron; seven grandchildren; three sistrs, Mrs. Artie WALTERS, Akron; Mrs. Warren ROGERS, Akron, and Mrs. Etta FULLER, Warsaw, and three brothers, Amos and Pierce [ENGLE], both of Akron, and Elmer [ENGLE], Mentone. Preceding in death were one daughter, two sisters and two brothers. Last rites will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sheeta funeral home in Akron with the Rev. Claude FAWNS officiating. Burial will be at Nichols cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. Ralph R. Whitney Ralph R. WHITNEY, 75, R.R. 5, Rochester, died Monday at 6 a.m. at his home after an illness of three years. Born Dec. 5, 1892, in Boston, he had spent most of his life in the Fulton county area. His wife, Lena [WHITNEY], died in 1943. Mr. Whitney had been a farmer and custodian at Louderback’s auto agency. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Eugenia STEWART, at home, and Mrs. Naomi CHESTER, Logansport; a sister, Mrs. John (Florence) SLATER, Warsaw, and a cousin. Mrs. Cliff (Martha) OSTERIENER, Fort Wayne Last rites will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Zimmerman Brothers funeral home with the Rev. Donald LAMBERT officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn cemetery in Denver. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Ira B. Cromley Ira R. CROMLEY, 63, R.R. 1, Culver, died at 5:05 a.m. today at Plymouth Parkview hospital, where he had been a patient four weeks. He had been in failing health 10 years, suffering from Parkinson’s disease, and had been an invalid at his home since falling March 21, 1967. Born Sept. 23, 1904 in Culver, he was the son of Jacob and Anna MAHLER CROMLEY. He had resided all his life in the Culver area. He was married Oct. 26, 1927 to Gladys Mable ALEXANDER. He had been a farmer and was a former express agent at Culver. He was a member of the Culver Emanuel United Brethren church. Surviving with the wife are two daughters, Miss Alice CROMLEY, on the staff at Bob Jones university, Greensville, S.C., and Mrs. Carol OLSON, a missionary at Manorom community hospital of Manorom, Thailand; three sons, Dale [CROMLEY], Minneapolis, Minn.; John [CROMLEY], of Rochester, and SP4 Paul [CROMLEY], stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind.; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Blanche FINNEY, Culver; Mrs. Herman (Rose) AULT and Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy) STOCKBERGER, both of Argos. A brother preceded in death. Last rites will be at the Culver E.U.B. church with the Rev. A. E. GIVENS officiating. Burial will be in the Culver Masonic cemetery. Time and date of services are pending. Arrangements are being made by the Grossman funeral home in Argos. William A. Ralston William Arthur RALSTON, 55, Miami, Fla., died at 4 a.m. Monday at Jackson Memorial hospital in Miami. Born Dec. 14, 1912 in Monterey, he was the son of William and Ertha COWEN RALSTON. He had lived in Florida 15 years, moving there from Chicago. He was married to Ruby FELTZ in 1931. She died in 1945. He then was married to Ruby FAIRBANKS. He was a trucker and heavy equipment operator. Surviving are the mother, Mrs. Bertha RALSTON, Niles, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Naomi LELAND, Argos; two sons, William [RALSTON], Plymouth, and Richard [RALSTON], Fullerton, Cal., and five grandchildren. Last rites will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Grossman funeral home in Argos with Homer TAYLOR officiating. Burial will be in the Argos Maple Grove cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday. Luella C. Brooks Luella C. BROOKS, 78, Argos, died at 6:10 a.m. Sunday at Woodlawn hospital. She suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage Friday. Born Aug. 10, 1889 in Hartsville, Ind., she was the daughter of Victor and Louisa HEROD CARR. She had lived in the Argos community 28 years, moving there from Detroit, Mich. She was married Jan. 22, 1920 in Detroit to Joseph Earle BROOKS, who died Dec. 16, 1967. Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Argos Congregational Christian church. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Grossman funeral home in Argos with the Rev. Jacob WAECHTER officiating. Burial will be in the Argos Maple Grove cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. James H. Guise James [Hugh] GUISE, 78, R.R. 1, Claypool, died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the Murphy Medical Center in Warsaw 20 minutes after being admitted following a heart attack. His home was in the Burket area. Born July 24, 1889 in Kewanna, he had resided in the Burket area most of his life. He was married near Leiters Ford to Nancy [Alice] EASTERDAY, who survives. He was a member of the Burket E.U.B. church. Surviving are a foster-son, John ROADARMEL, at home, and brother, E. A. GUISE, Tulsa, Okla. Two sisters preceded in death. Final rites were this afternoon at the King Memorial home in Mentone with the Rev. Wayne JOHNSON officiating. Burial was in the Mentone cemetery. Cornelius Rogan Cornelius ROGAN, R.R. 2, Argos, died this morning at the Klapp nursing home in Argos. Arrangements are pending at the Grossman funeral home in Argos. Wednesday, January 3, 1968 Mrs. Melvin Bybee Mrs. Melvin BYBEE, Huron, O., died of a stroke Monday morning in Huron. She was born and reared in Rochester. Among the survivors is a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ed LOWE of Rochester. Funeral services were today. Robert L. Smith Robert L. SMITH, 47, Peru, a former Rochester resident died at 9 p.m. Monday of a heart attack. He was dead on arrival at Dukes hospital in Peru. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ryan CULP; the grandmother, Mrs. Blanche LEAHY, and a grandson, Troy Dean CULP, all of Peru. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eikenberry-Murray funeral home in Peru and burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:30 p.m. Friday. George M. Bash George [M.] BASH, R.R. 2, Rochester, died unexpectedly at Woodlawn hospital this morning while undergoing surgery for a broken hip. Services are pending at the Yoder and Wright funeral home in Nappanee. Mr. Bash lived on Country Club drive at Lake Manitou and was employed by The Rochester Sentinel as a linotype operator. Cornelius Rogan Cornelius P. ROGAN, 63, R.R. 2, Argos, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Klapp nursing home in Argos. He had been ill since suffering a stroke in 1960. Born Oct. 20, 1904 in St. Mary’s Pa., he was the son of William and Anna FLICKINGER ROGAN. He had resided in the Argos community since 1942, moving there from Plymouth. He was married Dec. 7, 1923 in St. Joseph, Mich., to Lena Edna HITE. He had worked at McCord corporation in Plymouth until his illness. Surviving with the wife are a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Phyllis) JACOX, South Bend; four sons, Robert [ROGAN], at home; Patrick [ROGAN], of Mishawaka; Donald [ROGAN], of Argos, and Lowell [ROGAN], of Kent, O.; ten grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
