Some twenty species of fish from all the world’s oceans and seas are known, and often confused, by the generic name of tuna. Of all these, only eight are scientifically classified in the Thunnus genre, which belongs to the Scombridae family. Of these eight species, only three are known and accepted as the red tuna genre: the Atlantic Red Tuna, the Pacific Red Tuna and the South Red Tuna.
