Southern Methodist University opened in the fall of I9l) and graduated its PRELUDE Alexander first class in the spring of 1916. This is the seventy-sixth annual University commencement. The School is a member of the Association of American Law Schools and is approved by the Section of Legal Education and ,tdmissions to the UNIVERSITY BRASS Byrd Bar of the American Bar Association. Dave Alexander, Conductor The Êrst law school class graduated in 1928 with eleven members. This, the sixty-fourth graduating class consists of 266 candidates for the Juris Doctor PROCESSION OF FTAGS degree, 3l candidares for the Master of Laws degree (Comparative and Interna- tional Law), and 16 candidates for the Master of Laws degree. TRUMPET PROCLAMÄTION N(/asson There are four buildings in the Law School Quadrangle. Storey Hall houses Herald Thumpets the faculty library, faculty and administrative offices, the Legal Clinic, School of Law publications, and Karcher Auditorium. Lawyers Inn provides living quarters PROCESSION OF DEGREE CANDIDATES and dining facilities for about eighty students and contains a lounge, recreation Standard Bearer for the SMU School of Law room, faculty dining room and apartments. Florence Hall is a modern classroom President of the Student Bar Association building with a model law office and courtroom facilities having modern audio- Canclidates for the Degree of Doctor visual equipment and closed circuit television. Underwood Law Library contains a Juris of Laws collection of approximately 350,000 volumes, ranking second among private law Candidates for the Degree of Master school libraries west of the Mississippi. Candidates for the Degree of Master of Laws (Comparative International) The Law School is uniquely advantaged by its location in the Dalla: and Metroplex Area; it draws its more than 800 students from most of the fifty state, \Øasson and from over 200 colleges and universities. The School maintains a close working TRUMPET PROCLA,M,{IION relationship with the Dallas Bar Association, many of the members of which teach Herald Trumpets seminars that provide a wealth of courses in specialized areas. Faculty Marshal for the School of Law SMU Law School's Legal Clinic provides practical instruction in appellate, Alumni Relatives of the Degree Candidates civil, criminal, and tax cases under the careful supervision of experienced prac- Faculty of the School of Law titioners. Students prepare legal documents, interview and counsel clients, and The Dean of the School of Law appear in court in a variety of cases.
