Rekindle memories of youth - long days of hard skiing, brilliant blue skies and sunshine, immaculately groomed pistes, fresh powder, tumbles, fast skiing and exhilaration. We invite you to join a small group of like-minded skiers to revel in a new and unique alpine experience on an escorted ski tour of Austria's finest slopes. © St. Anton am Arlberg Tourism Association “I am just a ski bum with a work problem” behind the concept Ski Buzz has been created by siblings Yvonne Verstandig and Daniel Burger. Yvonne and Daniel live in Melbourne and grew up skiing at Mt Buller most weekends. Family holidays during their youth were spent skiing overseas as often as possible and whilst at University they chased any job available in the snow. Eventually careers and family took priority over life on the slopes and those carefree ski days became a distant memory. Yvonne is now a director of Executive Edge Travel + Events and Daniel is an architect and property developer. Whilst Yvonne spent most of her childhood being tormented by older brother Daniel, their love of skiing has brought them together as adults with a mission to create the perfect ski adventure for like-minded mature ski bums. the experience Ski Buzz focusses on two ski areas in Austria - the international resort of Lech am Arlberg (with a ski area incorporating nearby Zürs & St Anton) as well as the village of Ellmau in Tyrol (part of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser area). Visit Hopfgarten for schnapps, walk through town, church visit and dinner. Day 4: Thu 3rd - Ski Itter, Soll & Hopfgarten; followed by aprés. Day 5: Fri 4th - Ski Ellmau, Going. All of a sudden it wasn’t only Nordic guests conquering the pistes with their telemark turns – the locals were too. The Beginning – Founding of Ski-Club Arlberg The story began on the 3rd January 1901.Six friends walked from St. Anton am Arlberg to St. Christoph and were welcomed on their arrival by the innkeeper, Oswald Trojer and his daughter, Liesl. This meeting started with companionable drinks and ended with the foundation of Ski-Club Arlberg. Today, the Ski-Club can boast of over 9,000 members from 61 different countries. Only three years after founding the club, they realised their next vision by hosting the 1st „General Ski Race“. The great racing tradition of today can trace its` roots back to this first competition in 1904. First ski school worldwide This was just the beginning, however, for the dynamic St. Antoner’s with their Ski Club and spectacular races. A local man, Hannes Schneider, was responsible for creating a landmark in ski history, by “inventing” the first ski school ever in the winter of 1921/1922.

    Safe on the ArlBerg! Arlberg, December 2020 Unique skiing pleasure paired with the highest possible level of safety - that is the goal of Ski Arlberg for the 2020/21 ski season. On this basis and also due to the fact that keeping visitors healthy in the Ski Arlberg skiing region is naturally the main priority, the following information currently applies for skiing in the area: ➢ Face masks or coverings must be worn in all cable car/lift buildings (entrance and exit areas, ticket offices, toilets etc.), in queuing areas and on all cable car/lift journeys (tow lifts, chair lifts, gondola lifts etc.). Children up to the age of six are excluded from this regulation. In closed vehicles (cabins) and chairlifts with wind hoods and in closed access areas, people over the age of 14 are also required to wear an FFP2 mask without exhalation valve(or higher). Introduction Lift ticket prices differ considerably across Alpine countries when expressed in a common currency. For example, based on a representative data set from the winter season 2010/2011, the average price of a one-day lift ticket is €37 in Aus- tria, €34.50 in France, and €39.20 in Switzerland. Similarly, the six-day ski pass costs about €177 in Austria, €175 in France and €188 in Switzerland on aver- age. One obvious factor of the price differences is the difference in VAT rates across countries. Countries with a higher value-added tax (VAT) rate experience higher prices.1 However, when prices are adjusted for differences in value-added tax across countries and then expressed in a common currency, the international price differences in one-day lift tickets remain quite large, ranging from €33.30 in Austria to €32.60 in France and €36.10 in Switzerland. Overall, French one-day lift tickets (net of VAT) are 10 per cent lower on average than those in Switzerland, and 13 per cent lower when the medians are compared. When lift ticket prices are measured as six-day ski passes (net of VAT) the price differen- tial between the two countries is less much pronounced.
