Sterling Singers

The Sterling Singers is a community choir whose main mission is to testify, through music, of the Lord Jesus Christ and inspire its audiences to follow His teachings. Its repertoire includes the classical works of the masters as well as timeless music of contemporary composers. The Sterling Singers is made up entirely of volunteers from Utah’s . Its more than 350 active singers range in age from 14 to over 70. The choir was founded in 1994 by Sterling Brimley, the CEO and President, with only 30 singers, and has grown in size and skill under the brilliant direction of conductor and artistic director, Kelly DeHaan. In recent years, the choir has flourished with the additional talents of associate conductor and organist, Matthew Thompson; organist wife, Sharee Thompson; and piano accompanist Danielle Christianson. The Sterling Singers annually perform several gratis concerts in venues including the Salt Lake Tabernacle, Abravanel Hall and Libby Gardner Concert Hall at the University ® of Utah. A highlight of the choir’s activities is a traditional Christmas concert. Past performances have included a concert of Dr. Crawford Gates’ works, as well as the debut of his original opera, Joseph, Joseph; the Requiems of Brahms, Rutter and Fauré John Rutter’s BK Gloria and Magnificat; the 150th Commemoration of the Mormon Battalion, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Lyceum Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
