Day 2: Carthage / Sidi Bou-Said / La Goulette "Jewish city and synagogue" / Museum of Bardo / Great synagogue of Tunis and the medina of Tunis :( 60KM ) • After breakfast, Explore Carthage (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the capital of ancient Carthaginian Empire. Visit Byrsa Hill to see the ruins of Roman buildings and Carthage Museum. See the Tophet, where urns containing the ashes and milk teeth of 8th century BC children have been unearthed. Visit Antonine Baths, a huge Roman bath complex on the edge of the Mediterranean then, Visit the theatre and Punic Port. • Continuation, to Sidi Bou Said: stroll through the narrow streets of Sidi Bou Said, a picturesQue small town bordered by white-washed houses with blue shutters and doors. Check out the various art galleries and try some mint tea in one of the traditional street cafes while enjoying the superb view of the gulf of Tunisia. • Visit of LA GOULETTE and its Synagogue. In the last century, the Jewish community adored the city of La Goulette, and a large part of its inhabitants was Tunisian- Jewish.La Goulette is linked to Tunis by the TGM railway. • Lunch in a local restaurant. • Departure to Visit of Bardo Museum, one of the best archaeological museums in the Mediterranean, which is especially well-known for its beautiful collection of mosaics. The museum is located in an old palace that belongs to the Beys, rulers of Tunisia. For more than 500 years, the Medina has been the historic heart of Tunis and UNESCO has classified it as a World Heritage Site due its fascinating and exotic maze of streets. We will stop by the Zaitouna MosQue (from outside), mosQue of Sidi Mehrez and the mausoleum of the Husainides princes. • Return to Hotel, dinner and accommodation. Day 3: Visit of the house of culture Habiba Msika in Testour / lunch in Testour / Hammamet:( 225KM ) • After breakfast, departure to Testour and visit the house of culture “Habiba Msika”: Marguerite Messika was born in 1893 and died in 1930, she was a Tunisian singer and actress of the early twentieth century. She is born in the Israelit district of Tunis in a poor family of "touansa". She learns to read and write at the Israelite alliance school that she leaves after 7 years to follow, with the help of her aunt, the singing lessons, solfege and classical Arabic with the famous composer Khemais Tarnane and Egyptian $tenor Hassan Bannan. Marguerite mixes with the Arabs and takes for pseudonym Habiba or Hbiba, which means the loved one. • Lunch in Testour. • Continuation to Hammamet, visit the Spanish Fortress and its medina. • Check-in in the hotel in Hammamet, dinner and accommodation. The first Jews settled in Nabeul in 1700, The Jewish community of Nabeul was particularly uniQue, both socially and linguistically. Its elite was made up of highly-educated Jews from Djerba and Tunis, who generally worked as successful traders and skilled artisans. The Jews of Nabeul enjoyed good relationships with their Muslim neighbors; indeed, the Jewish cemetery was located next to the Muslim cemetery and they were never compelled to live in a separate Jewish Quarter. • Departure to El Jem, enthralled by one of the world’s largest and most spectacular Roman Amphitheatre. Built in 238 AD, the Amphitheatre can hold up to 35,000 spectators. This monument illustrates the grandeur and extent of the Roman Empire. Nearby is the museum of El Jem, which houses some lovely mosaics and the remains of some recently excavated luxury villas. • Lunch in a local restaurant in El jem. • Continuation to Sfax, check-in, dinner and accommodation. Day 5: Synagogue of sfax / Gabes / El Hama / Djerba. ( 320KM ) • Breakfast and visit the synagogue of sfax (The Azria Synagogue, named after Shlomo • Armon ben Mahlouf Azria, it was built in the new city after WWII. The synagogue's only decorative element is the Star of David, in the two round windows in the prayer hall. This symbol also appears on the lamp and on the parapet). • Departure for lunch, which will take place in Gabes. • Continuation to El Hamma which is well known as a holy city to the jews of north Africa because of the grave of rabbi Yosef el Marab called by the Jews of Tunisia “ AL SAID “ ( the master ).a pilgrimage to his grave made at the beginning of the of Teveth. A popular tourist destination, it is best known for its traditional souk (market) and the Aghlabid fortress. • Then, visit of the synagogue of Ghriba (This synagogue “Al Ghriba” is a popular pilgrimage site to this day. Each year on Lag Ba'omer a Ziara (festival) takes place there, in which thousands of Jews and non-Jews participate. According to local tradition, most of the Jews in Djerba are Kohanim from the Cohen Tanugi family, who arrived in the middle ages to Djerba. • Lunch in a local restaurant. • Return to the hotel, free afternoon, dinner and accommodation. You will Travel through the Amazigh life and stories. • Then continue to Douz and lunch. • “OPTIONAL AND PAID BY THE CLIENT”: camel riding in the heart of the sahara. • Continuation to Tozeur, Installation in hotel, dinner and accommodation. Day 9: Tozeur / Chebikha-Tameghza-mides /Gafsa / Kairouan: (370KM) • After breakfast, departure in 4X4 to visit the Mountain oasis Chebika/Tamerza/Midès.
