CAR CRAFT Real Street Eliminator™ July 20-21, 2018

Real Street Eliminator (“RSE”) is back and so is your chance to show off your car’s acceleration, handling, and horsepower-generating abilities against the best in the nation at the Car Craft Summer Nationals™.

You may register your car in only one class. When you register you will receive a special Real Street Eliminator banner, a chance to win a Car Craft RSE plaque, and a spot for your car in Car Craft magazine.

The Contest: Each vehicle will compete in the Gear Vendors Overdrives Drag Run, the Autocross course, and Dyno competition, and a road rally to a designated checkpoint. To be eligible for the RSE crown, you must compete in all four events.

Points: The Top Three finishers in any one class will receive 30, 20 or 10 points for their respective positions using the best time, distance, or horsepower number depending on the scoring specifics for each event. The car with the most points out of 90 wins the Car Craft Real Street Eliminator for each class. Cars finishing out of the Top Three will receive zero points. DNF and DNS entries will receive 0 points. If there is a tie, the car with the most HP on the dyno wins. DNF or DNS on the dyno count as zero hp.

Rules:

Section 1 General Rules

1. All vehicles entered into Real Street Eliminator (RSE) event must four-wheeled vehicles that are licensed, registered, and insured for regular street use. The RSE is an event designed specifically for performance street cars. Vehicles built specifically for competition or “race cars with license plates” are not within the spirit of the event and will be scrutinized before entry. Event officials will make the final determination of eligibility.

Classes

Entrants into Class 1, 2 and 3, and 4 must be paid, registered Participants of Car Craft Summer Nationals.

1. Class 1: 1990 and newer 4 seat and sedans (late model Mustang, Camaro, BMW M3, Cadillac CTSV, EVO, STi, etc.)

2. Class 2: 1989 and older 4 seat coupes and sedans, including C1-C3 Corvettes and AMX

3. Class 3: turbo and supercharged vehicles (4/6 cylinder or 2 rotor, no AWD)

4. Class 4 : Unlimited (C4-C7 Corvette, any AWD, any 3 rotor, and all modern rear- vehicles) d. Class 5: Pro – Any year, make and model vehicle built and / or driven by professionals. This includes Pro Builder “shop or personal” vehicles, Sponsor or Vendor display vehicles at CCSN.

No open , stock cars, two wheeled vehicles, or trikes are permitted to compete. CCSN registered participants may compete in any Class that they choose as long as vehicle meets class criteria. Professionals, Pro Builder shop vehicles, and sponsor or vendor vehicles must compete in “Pro” division, Class 5.

2. Gasoline, E-85, diesel fuel, bio-diesel, and electricity are the only fuel/power sources to be used in vehicles entered in the event. Nitrous oxide or octane boosters are allowed, however, alcohol and nitro methane are strictly prohibited. USCA officials must approve any alternative fuel source before entry.

3. All vehicles must have current license, registration and proof of insurance.

4. rule - Participants must use commercially available, DOT approved, non-competition, treaded (non-grooved) street (no competition radials, no R compound, drag radials or shaved tread) with a treadwear rating of 200 or higher. Tires will be required to pass a technical inspection at the tech inspection. The spirit of the event requires the use of a DOT approved “non-competition” tire – any modifications or chemical treatments to tires will be unacceptable. Any vehicle with tires showing any evidence of modification will be immediately disqualified from the event. Safety is of the utmost importance and USCA officials will not hesitate to disqualify questionable tire selections. Any tire not commercially available to the general public is prohibited.

5. Tire condition - Tires cannot show any signs of abuse, checking or obvious signs of age or neglect. Tires must have a minimum of 2/32” tread depth at the start of the event and must not show excessive wear.

6. Participants must use a single set of tires for the entire event; no tire changing between events will be allowed. Tires will be marked during tech inspection. Tire changes will be allowed in the event of a catastrophic failure or for safety related reasons as deemed necessary by USCA officials, but replacements must be of the same size, manufacturer and model as those approved during tech inspection.

7. Electric tire warmers are prohibited.

8. All vehicles must run a complete with mufflers. Electronic cutouts are allowed.

9. Each vehicle is required to display the official RSE and RSE sponsor event decal package per specifications for the duration of the event.

10. Only registered participant and/or car owner may drive the vehicle.

11. Each participant is responsible for any and all cleanup and/or damages, including legal fees, caused by themselves or their vehicle during any and all portions of the event.

12. Everyone entering the event venue must sign a liability waiver.

13. Participating cars must pass a technical inspection that will emphasize safety. Safety features that do not offer a competitive advantage such as racing specific harnesses, roll cages/bars, fire systems, etc., are acceptable and highly encouraged.

14. All or any open top vehicle must have proper rollover protection – no exceptions. The top of the roll hoop must be higher than the driver’s helmet while seated properly in the car. Questions – [email protected]

15. Helmets are required during the autocross portions of the event. Helmets are required on the drag strip if the car’s ET is 13.99 or quicker. If a helmet is used it must meet Snell, SA2010 or SA2015, with a visible SFI tag inside helmet, is the only accepted helmet for competition. Motorcycle or DOT helmets are not allowed under any circumstances.

16. No open toe shoes or sandals/flip flops allowed.

17. Seatbelts or safety harnesses must be installed correctly and worn properly during all segments of the event. A minimum 3-point factory installed seat belt is preferred for all vehicles. Lap only belts will only be acceptable if the vehicle is of the year, make, model that 3-point factory seat belts were not available. 18. Participants that drive unsafely or exhibit unsafe behavior during any segment of the event will be immediately disqualified and removed from the event.

19. Motor Trend Group, LLC / Sponsor (CAR CRAFT) reserves the right, in the exercise of its reasonable discretion, to deny or suspend participation in Sponsor’s event at any time to any person or entity based on: (a) a violation of the event rules; (b) conduct detrimental to the event or to the good will or image of Sponsor; (c) such person’s or entity’s failure to comply with any entry criteria, including failure to sign a waiver and release or failure to remit of any entry fees; or (d) any other conduct by such person or entity that Sponsor reasonably determines is unsuitable for the event or potentially damaging to the reputation of the event and/or Sponsor. By submitting an application to be a participant of the CAR CRAFT RSE (the "Event"), you agree to hereby hold harmless the organizers, sponsors, and participants of the Event from any claims of loss and/or harm regarding same event. You agree to abide by all standards and rules set forth by judges and organizers of same event. You hereby agree to accept under reasonable conditions the final judgment and award of prizes of the participating judges and organizers of same Event. In addition, you allow the Event and selected sponsors photo rights of the entered vehicle taken at the event for use in any form or manner. You agree that you have read, understand, and accept all rules contained on carcraft.com and/or contained within the registration process, as well as any rules published online in advance, or onsite at the Event. You also verify that you understand additional rules may be instituted by the organizers during the Event. You claim that all the information submitted during the application and/or entry process is correct, and you understand that any false information may jeopardize your eligibility to enter this competition. You further understand that you will be required to be present and sign a liability waiver upon admission into the Event, and you understand that failure to do so will be cause for organizers to deny your participation in the Event.

Section 1

QA1 Autocross

1. Participants must complete at least two (2) timed runs over the fixed course. The official time for each run will be as measured by the automatic timer plus any penalties incurred. Failure to complete at least three (3) timed laps during the autocross segment will result in a DNF.

2. A two-second penalty will be imposed for knocking a pylon over or out of its outlined box. If the pylon is left standing and touching any part of its outlined box, it is not a penalty. Pointer or "lay down" cones are considered directional aids and do not impose a penalty.

3. A DNF and no time issued may be imposed for repeatedly not coming to a complete stop after crossing the finish line. Stop pylons will be designated at a generous distance beyond the finish line. Crossing or contact with any of the stop pylons is considered a violation and will result in a penalty. 4. Any vehicle that spins, loops or leaves the autocross surface (2 or 4 off) for any reason will be black flagged and required to report directly to the USCA event steward as soon as safely possible. Multiple black flags issued to a participant may result in immediate dismissal from the event.

Section 2

Drag Racing

1. Participants must complete at least one (1) ¼ mile drag strip pass.

2. Participants will turn in ET slip to RSE Scoring.

3. The quickest turned in time from each competitor will be scored.

4. Any pass where the vehicle makes contact with the wall or crosses the center line will not be scored.

Section 3

Dyno

1. Allowed ONE session with no more than 2 pulls on the Dyno.

2. You must use the same tires that were marked in tech inspection.

3. See schedule for designated RSE dyno competition times, you must make your dyno pull during one of the designated sessions.

Section 4

Cruise

1. Checkpoint will be designated by event staff. You will receive directions at tech. 2. You must check in with CCSN staffer at the designated location and return to Beech Bend raceway. 3. You will receive a ticket to bring to scoring as proof of completion.

You MUST make your Dyno run during one of the above competition times. These times are set aside for RSE competitors only. You will not be permitted to compete on the Dyno during any other times. YOU will have ONE session on the Dyno ONLY. No Do-Overs! Autocross and Drag Strip passes may be made at any time during the open hours.
