Hwy 99E, Canby OR 97013 503-266-6511 Weird State Motor Vehicle Laws We Found (not sure how much these laws are enforced): Alabama - No Blindfolds…..shouldn’t that be illegal everywhere??? Alaska - No dogs on the roof: It is illegal to tie a dog to the roof of your car. Arizona - No going back: You know what they say, “Keep moving forward.” In Arizona you cannot drive a car in reverse on a public road. Arkansas - No honking: In Little Rock, the state’s capital, it is illegal to honk your car horn anywhere that serves cold drinks or sandwiches after 9pm. California - No robes: It is against the law for women to drive in a housecoat, so no dropping off the kidsa t school in your robe. North Carolina - No cemetery joyride: It is illegal to drive through a cemetery if you are not there to dig a grave or bury someone. Ohio - In Cincinnati, taxi drivers may only wear shorts from May 16 through Labor Day. Oklahoma - No comics: It is against the law to read a comic book while driving (I agree with this law - but think you shouldn’t read at all while driving). Oregon - No car doors open: It is illegal to leave your car door open for longer than “necessary” (How did I not know this)?!?! South Carolina - No trash: In the vacation town of Hilton Head, it is unlawful to store trash in your vehicle. Tennessee - No hunting except whales: It is illegal to shoot any game other than whales from a moving vehicle (you know because of the “ocean” that Tennessee is next to). ©https://www.schumachercargo.com/50-weird-driving-laws-us/ ©Calvin & Hobbes Comic Strip KNOWING YOUR AUTO INSURANCE POLICY Having car insurance is important, especially when you get in an accident (let’s face it, no one PLANS an accident). We see a lot of people coming in for repairs who do not know if they have rental car coverage or towing coverage on their policy (which we can help you find out), but it is always good to double check with your insurance agent on having those vital items. Having towing & rental car coverage on your policy is usual- ly does not cost much more per month and is always worth the extra dollars! Check with your agent! Already been in an accident and don’t have rental car coverage? We can help with that! We have courtesy (loaner) cars that we loan out free of charge for those who do not have rental coverage. They may not be the fanciest vehicles, but they will get you from point A to point B without breaking down! 6-Ingredient Chickpea Pasta with Arugula 2 c chickpea pasta (or regular pasta if you prefer) 1 lb ground sausage 2 heaping cups arugula 4 oz feta cheese 1 lemon, juice + zest 2 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced or minced 1/4 c olive oil salt and pepper Cook the chickpea pasta according to the packages instructions. Reserve 1/4c of the cooking liquid before draining. While the pasta is cooking heat a saute pan over medium-low heat. Sauté the sliced garlic and a few turns of freshly cracked black pepper. Add in the ground sausage and cook until browned. Once sausage is cooked, add in the cooked pasta and reserved cooking liquid. Toss the pasta in the pan with the oil. Turn off the heat. Add in the arugula and feta. Season with the lemon juice, zest and salt, and pepper.     Hot Rod Classics Association – Hot Rod Classics Series Background Heart of a Champion (HOAC) was founded in 2017 to help preserve stock car racing history in the Maritime provinces of Canada. Our first project was the restoration of a vintage stock car, a 1967 Chevelle which was unveiled in July 2017 at the region's biggest stock car race, the IWK 250 at Riverside International Speedway. It was so well-received that we took the car on tour, showing it at race tracks and car shows throughout the Maritime provinces. At the same time, we launched our website and the Heart of Champion Facebook (FB) page to share our travels on social media. Since then, we have grown the FB page to include vintage racing photos, stories, and a weekly salute to someone who has helped build stock car racing in our region - someone with the Heart of a Champion. In just 3 years, our social media following has flourished to over 10,000 followers with the reaction and interaction from and between our followers clearly demonstrating the interest in and passion for our Maritime racing heritage. And so it was time, in 2020, to take Heart of a Champion to the next level with the formation of the Hot Rod Classics Vintage race car series. Overview The Hot Rod Classics Series is our region's first vintage stock car organization. As with Heart of a Champion, the Hot Rod Classics Series has been formed to help preserve stock car racing history in the Maritimes and to honour those who helped make the sport what it is today.

Three sister publications and Hot Rod each purchased vehicles off of ebay’s auction site to reimagine using parts purchased mostly from ebay. The winning project, as voted on by going to ebay, will get to choose where the proceeds from the auction of all four vehicles on ebay will go. In our case it’s the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. That’s why we need you to vote—that’s why we want to win! European Car magazine purchased a nice Porsche, which was nice to start with so what’s the point? Four Wheeler magazine purchased a Jeep that will be jacked up with balloon tires, roll bars and probably a winch that will look ridiculous and doesn’t warrant further comment. Low Rider magazine purchased a wasted El Camino, which was a mistake.     Introduction to R&C Database Compilation & Index I have a long history and fondness for Rod & Custom magazine. This is the first magazine I purchased at age 10, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I often refer back to my collection, but find it hard to quickly lay my hands on a given article. This is for fellow HAMB members who share a love for this little magazine. This Index covers Rod & Custom Magazine from May 1953 through May 1974. I stopped at 1974 since R&C went out of print then. R&C was restarted in December 1988 and lasted until October 2014. This index is created for general reference, technical reference, research, tracing automobile histories, and genealogy. I have attempted to use a consistent categorization or article grouping scheme across all 20+ years, even though editors or previous compilations may not have used this convention. This index contains the following specific information: Title of each article along with a descriptive supplement such as club affiliation, noted customizers, past owners, professions, etc. The author’s and/or photographer’s name where space allowed. Pontiac Fiero Hot Air Engine Now It's Ready. April, 2010 By C.J. Baker Editor's Note: This story was reprinted from the June 1984 issue of Hot Rod magazine. It showcases not only the spirit of innovation of the great Smokey Yunick but gives some insight into how non-conventional thinking can lead to significant technical innovation. For decades, hot rodders and for that matter Detroit engineers have been locked into the idea that the only way to make more power in an engine was to cram more air and fuel into the cylinders. Traditional methods of doing that have included long camshaft event cycles, pressurizing the induction system, and cooling the incoming air/fuel charge. Those methods have produced success within limits but there has also been a heavy price to pay for power achieved with those methods in terms of efficiency. What has been consistently overlooked is the quality of the mixture that enters the cylinders in terms of its ability to react or oxidize. In everyday terms that means how well and how completely it will burn. When the reaction takes place, chemical energy is converted to heat energy. How much heat is generated and how well that heat energy is used to produce work is efficiency and quite frankly most internal combustion engines are pathetically inefficient, using only about 25 percent of the heat available. The rest is wasted-lost out the tailpipe, into the cooling system and into the air.
