1 2 A multicoloured experience Sun and snow in a magical winter landscape amidst the Alps, in the heart of Europe, where the cuisine is special and the atmosphere is totally Italian, where hotels and ski facilities are modern and traditions ancient. This is Trentino. The perfect setting for mythical descents on groomed pistes, cross-country skiing through silent forests, snowboarding in fun parks, walking in the snow, ski touring around the mountains, or simply lazing in the natural environment and being pampered in a well-being centre. Then the chance to explore the festive towns and villages, dine in restaurants serving local specialities, browse in the tempting shops and enjoy the lively nightlife. VAL DI FIEMME Alpe di Cermis, at Cavalese, has one of the longest pistes in the whole of the Alps, the famous Olimpia over 7 km long with a vertical drop of 1400 metres. Cross-country enthusiasts have the choice of 150 kilometres of trails and two ultramodern cross-country centres, one on Passo Lavazé-Oclini (at an altitude between 1600-2150 m) skiable until March-April, the other at Lago di Tesero (floodlit at night) that enticed 2 World Championships to this resort in the past and will host them for the third time in 2013. In Gardoné, at 1650 metres, children can enjoy, in complete safety, a unique attraction in the Dolomites: the Alpine Coaster, a breathtaking slide of 750 metres, with bends and jumps, in the stupendous snow-covered amphitheatre of the Latemar. Guests staying in a family-friendly hotel will find an infinite variety of services for parents and children: play areas with toys, drawing kits and storybooks, afternoon snacks, baby-sitter services and flexible hours in the restaurant.

A22 Lago di Garda getting to Trentino A4 Brescia 135 km You can reach Trentino from the north and south either Bergamo 180 km Verona 90 km by rail (Verona-Brenner-Munich) or on the A22 Brenner MILAN 250 km motorway. The nearest airports to Trento are the Valerio Catullo in Verona (90 km), the Gabriele d’Annunzio in Brescia (135 km), the Marco Polo in Venice (163 km), the Orio al Serio in Bergamo (180 km) and the Linate and Malpensa Bologna 224 km airports in Milan (about 250 km). The “Fly & Ski Shuttle” project operates a transfer service between the airports of Verona, Bergamo and Venice and the major tourist resorts on Saturdays from December to April. Local transport includes bus services run by the Trentino Trasporti and two minor railways, the Trento-Venice through Valsugana and the Trento-Malé serving Val di Non and Val di Sole. Every week special Snow Buses depart from the major Italian cities for the main ski resorts in Trentino. www.ttspa.it www.trenitalia.com

56 Flying to the Snow Fly Ski Shuttle takes you straight from the airport to the ski slopes

During the winter tourist season, from 13 December 2008 to 11 April 2009, a transfer service connects the Verona, Bergamo and Venice airports to some of the most popular Trentino tourist resorts. Once a week a coach leaves Valerio Catullo airport in Verona and takes the tourists straight to the Sole, Fassa and Fiemme valleys, Altopiano di Folgaria, Lavarone, Luserna, Monte Bondone and Altopiano della Paganella. This makes it easier for tourists travelling on national and international flights to reach the holiday resorts and avoids the inconvenience of using public transport that may not coincide with connections and timetables. Bus services operate from Bergamo to Val di Sole and from Venice to the Fiemme and Fassa valleys, San Martino di Castrozza and Primiero.
