May 13, 2014 minutes were approved. 3. Old Business a. Gainful Employment: Mostly, Financial Aid offices are taking care of this request. Members were requested to continue with the project and send in Fall 2013 and Fall 2014 data. The requested data begins with Fall 2008. b. GCAIR Retention and Success Project: (Fall 2014 Update), please send in Fall 2013 and Fall 2014 data. c. GCAIR Member Directory: Please update your one-page directory information (Fall 2014 Update) if not already completed. 4. New Business: a. Member Directory: Brazosport updates on website b. TAIR in Clear Lake (Feb. 27 through March 2, 2017): This information was in the TAIR newsletter. NASA Hilton in Clear Lake. Cindy Ullrich suggested GCAIR members volunteer to assist with the TAIR conference. c. GCIAR Listserv Options: President-elect manages. GCAIR account is set up on Google for GCAIR listserv group. Michelle Calloway sent email invitation for members to subscribe to the GCAIR google group. d. Next year meeting dates: October 6, 2015 at Galveston; February 9, 2016 at Brazosport; May 17 at Alvin; July 19 at San Jac 4. GCAIR President-elect Nominations: Amber Lummus and Larry Root presented. Cindy Ullrich sent out email for each institution to have only one vote. Larry Root is the new GCAIR President-elect. Page 1 5. Volunteer for Presentation at October Meeting 6. College Reports/Other Topics of Discussion by Membership 7. Presentation: Demonstration of SAS Enterprise Miner, Decision Tree Modeling held in Michelle Calloway’s office at San Jac. Informative presentation of an example of predictive modeling. 8. College Reports – Fall contact hours are down for everyone because of the 60 hours programs San Jacinto College: Fall down 6% for headcount and contact hours. Spring 2015 there were 2400 degrees and certificates awarded. North Campus is building a new library. During June, the Board approved a future new campus at West Lake Houston located at the Parkway and Beltway 8. Brazosport College: Attended TACRO workshop for registrars. This was a 1.5 day workshop in Austin. The updates on CBM’s was informative. 60X30TX is new initiative. The goal is to have 60 percent of Texans between the age of 25 and 34 hold some kind of degree or post-secondary certification by the year 2030. TACRO is in Houston October 2015. SACS is in Houston December 2015. Enrollment same; Contact hours down. Building new structure for welding program. Houston Community College: Enrollment is up for Summer; Enrollment for Fall is down 15.1%. Undergoing a major reorganization with centers of excellence. Referenced the HCC website for new things happening. Lone Star College System: Alvin College: Reorganization is underway with adding three new vice presidents, creating an additional level of administration. Institutional Effectiveness and Research will report to the Vice President of Instruction. There was a retirement incentive allowing a large group to leave ACC. The new strategic plan is approaching completion. ZogoTech software is approved by the Board and in this budget for a data warehouse. VFA reporting was completed. College of the Mainland: Enrollment up 2% for Fall semester; Director of IR starts august 3 after Board approval. Terry Walker from Hill College. Plans to attend Houston Users Group for SAS (HUG). Galveston College: Business as usual along with building renovations. Enrollment down 13%; Contact hours down 11% 9.     Lee College President Dr. Lynda Villanueva As an administrator and leader with more than 20 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Lynda Villanueva is known for her bold and innovative leadership style, as well as her strategic approach to student success. Dr. Villanueva became the tenth president of Lee College in September 2019 and began her duties as president of the College in December 2019. As the first ethnic minority president in Lee College’s 86 year history, Dr. Villanueva has a passion for equity in education and believes in making every student feel valued and accepted, regardless of their background. During her first year as president of Lee College, Dr. Villanueva led the institution's transformation as it expanded its services to include virtual and hybrid learning modalities as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also oversaw the implementation of a free tuition program for graduates of local independent school districts, which resulted in increased student enrollment at Lee College amid global economic hardship. Before becoming president of Lee College, Dr. Villanueva served as Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, Texas. Prior to that, she served as Dean of Instruction at Brazosport College. Dr. Villanueva earned a doctor of philosophy degree in industrial/organizational psychology; a master of arts in psychology from the University of Houston; and a bachelor of science in psychology from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo.
