February 6, 2013 minutes not available. 3. Old Business Momentum Points and Funding: o Opened with lots of discussion on momentum points. George to send funding spreadsheet from Don Hudson to GCAIR listserv once Don gives the okay. GCAIR Group Project: Course Retention and Success o The purpose of the project is to determine best practices where differences exist between colleges. o George presented the results gathered from San Jacinto, Brazosport College and Houston CC. Page 1 o At this time, GCAIR has decided to only share project data with our group. o Next Steps: (1) Wharton (Tessa) and Galveston (Larry) committed to providing data. Send completed data sheets to George before October meeting. (2) Cindy to contact COM (Anita) about providing data. (3) George to create a summary of data; side by side comparison 4. New Business: Anita Garcia is the Interim Director of the Office of Institutional Research at College of the Mainland. TAIR sent out a conference proposal request for their 36th annual conference scheduled for February 18-21, 2014 in Addison. If any GCAIR members are interested in collaborating on a joint proposal, contact Cindy. Nominations for the 2013-14 President Elect/Secretary will be going out soon. Each college is allowed to submit one vote. Mark your calendars. The meeting schedule for next year is: o October 22, 2013 10 am – 1 pm Galveston College o February 11, 2014 10 am – 1 pm Houston Community College o May 20, 2014 10 am – 1 pm Brazosport College o July 22, 2014 10 am – 1 pm San Jacinto College 5. Presentation of San Jacinto College Program Review. Michelle Callaway demonstrated their new Program Evaluations. Previously the evaluations were compiled in Excel which took lots of man hours to create. Now they have been programed in SAS and turned into an automatic process saving lots of time. Very slick and great job! The Table of Contents listed San Jacinto’s key indicators included in each program evaluation. Michelle or George will send a copy of the table of contents to the listserv. 6. College Reports: Each college gave a report on their respective summer enrollment numbers and major initiatives. 7. If variance exists when comparing these figures to other previously published reports, it is important to note that these data were extracted after final grades were submitted and data at the end of term generally decreases compared to the 12'th day census data. Definitions: Gulf Coast Consortium: Consists of Alvin Community College, Blinn College, Brazosport College, College of the Mainland, Galveston College, Houston Community College, Lee College, Lone Star College - North Harris, San Jacinto College 1, Victoria College and Wharton County Junior College. UHCL Undergrad: Gulf Coast Consortium plus all other transfer students. LT 3: Less than 3 (non-zero value ). The data is not displayed to protect confidential information. 0: No students recorded for that major. 1Prior to 2004 and again in Fall 2008 many San Jacinto students were listed as transfers from the Central campus instead of the North and South campuses.     Lee College President Dr. Lynda Villanueva As an administrator and leader with more than 20 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Lynda Villanueva is known for her bold and innovative leadership style, as well as her strategic approach to student success. Dr. Villanueva became the tenth president of Lee College in September 2019 and began her duties as president of the College in December 2019. As the first ethnic minority president in Lee College’s 86 year history, Dr. Villanueva has a passion for equity in education and believes in making every student feel valued and accepted, regardless of their background. During her first year as president of Lee College, Dr. Villanueva led the institution's transformation as it expanded its services to include virtual and hybrid learning modalities as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also oversaw the implementation of a free tuition program for graduates of local independent school districts, which resulted in increased student enrollment at Lee College amid global economic hardship. Before becoming president of Lee College, Dr. Villanueva served as Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, Texas. Prior to that, she served as Dean of Instruction at Brazosport College. Dr. Villanueva earned a doctor of philosophy degree in industrial/organizational psychology; a master of arts in psychology from the University of Houston; and a bachelor of science in psychology from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. She is an Aspen Presidential Fellow, a Data Coach for Achieving the Dream, and a board member for the United Way of Greater Baytown Area and Chambers County, 1 Baytown Chamber of Commerce, Economic Alliance, and a member of the Rotary Club of Baytown.
