HQ Christmas Open House - 3:00 PM Marilyn Kessler of the Lake Park American Legion Auxiliary Unit #371 presented Calvin Grosvenor of Okoboji with the American Legion Auxiliary Youth Hero Award for his Bravery, Courage and Fortitude in saving the life of fellow SCUBA diver Jesse Fletchall. Back on May 28 Calvin and Jesse were Diving on Lake Okoboji, IA when Jesse suffered a brain embolism nearly 30-feet below the surface of the lake. Calvin got to him, purged air into his lungs with his regulator and got him to the surface. Then he swam Jesse 100 yards back to shore. Jesse had no pulse and was not breathing. So Calvin performed CPR until emergency personnel arrived. Jesse survived and is doing well today. The incident happened when Calvin was 17-years old, 3-days before his 18th birthday. Congratulations Calvin on receiving this honor and we wish best in your Senior year of High School.
