reetings from the 7th District Council!! We’ve hit the ground running since Convention. Our goal is to be the greatest half of Gthe Western Maryland Region. Since convention, I have conducted installations of Posts 24, 189, 214, and 222. I attended the Faraday Post 24 banquet and awards dinner. All installations have been completed within the district. First VC Beard and Second VC Anderson are already conducting Post Inspection reports, with a personal goal of October 31 completion rates. Our posts are busy with community services including helping with Food Bank services, benefits for a local cancer child and family, and Blue Star preparations for the Friendsville Overlook Sept 9 above and beyond normal functions. Our posts are thriving, and business is very good. I’ve attended online meetings to conduct regional and Department committee meetings. Our first District Council meeting was held August 1 at Post 13 and was very well attended. Our Standing Rules, Budget and CBL were affirmed. At the meeting we stressed community involvement and events, as well as membership with emphasis on retention. District 7 was well represented at the Western Regional meeting August 8. I attended 2 of the State American Legion baseball games cheering on the Garrett team all the way to the final game. Our members are interested and engaged in the new regional plans and calendar events. Our officer slots are filled and functioning at near 100% in enthusiasm!! The day of learning was lively and enlightening. Laurel Post also hosted the DEC August 15. National Convention was represented by myself and PDC James Marchinke.
