Dear Readers:

On behalf of Alpha Sorority, Inc., Sigma Chapter, the 2014 It’ About You Conference Committee, and my fellow chairmen, thank you for taking time out of your schedule to read the latest edition of our newsletter, “It’s About You.” Our theme, Dancing for Your Own Uniqueness (YOU), represents how we each uniquely approach life and the process of embracing our uniqueness. As women, we often put everyone else first, while placing our own needs and wants on a back burner. On September 5, we give you permission to love yourself first and to come celebrate your uniqueness with us!

In this edition, you will learn more about our panelists and presenters. As Operations Chairman, I am pleased to provide a few highlights regarding our upcoming conference. We are very excited about our Vision Board Workshop; please don’ forget to bring magazines! We would also like to encourage attendees to visit our health village, which will be open from 7:30 a.m.—10 a.m. Come for the health screenings and diabetes health materials and stay for the massages. There will be line dancing and Zumba in the afternoon. If you would really like to raise your heart rate and get in an exhilarating workout, we encourage you to bring comfortable shoes and a change of clothing. Did we mention door prizes? We have a variety of fabulous door prizes including restaurant gift cards and handcrafted jewelry! Finally, we have several vendors who will be available to share their goods!

For more information, don’t forget to like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ItsAboutYouConference or visit our Chapter’s website at www.akaepsilonsigmaomega.com. Also, subscribe to our newsletter, to receive weekly updates regarding this year’s conference.

2014 It’s About You Conference Speakers

This year’s conference presenters were asked to share with us what this year’s theme, Dancing for Your Own Uniqueness (YOU), meant to them. Captured below is what some of the presenters had to say.

Kamryn Adams Dancing in your own uniqueness means celebrating who God has Your Health: Mind, made YOU. It means embracing your gifts and accepting your unique Body and Soul purpose in life. It is a mandate to find out what you have that works and work it girl. “Having a call on your life is like having a small rock

in your shoe. You feel it with every step if you stay focused on it. If you ignore it, you can forget it’s even there.” —Kamyrn Adams

To me, the It’s About You Women's Conference theme, "Dancing for Your Own Roxane E. Hearn Uniqueness” represents an acceptance of one’s vulnerabilities, weaknesses, imperfec- Your Health: Mind, tions and faults. Furthermore, the theme represents the celebration of one’s true Body and Soul self, an unwavering confidence in the ability to create one’s own destiny… even if it means braving roads less traveled, building roads, creating opportunities, and kick- ing down doors without apology or guilt! This acceptance and confidence allows one to happily embrace their authentic self, which in turn is a realization that one’s beauty and true power as a woman lies in their ability to dance in their own uniqueness! "Stop hating yourself for who you aren’t, and start loving yourself for who you are.” — Author Unknown

Dr. Nycole Lyles-Belton Dancing for Your Own Uniqueness (YOU) is something that I apply to my life Your Health: Mind, every day and is best expressed through my favorite quote, “There’s greatness Body and Soul in you and it's up to you to acknowledge it. Once you acknowledge your greatness, it's up to you to work your greatness." —Dr. NYC

Gretchen Lee God has made each one of us in a different and special way. The Bible tells us that Your Money: we are fearfully and wonderfully made and God's works (us!) are wonderful! Empowering Your We live our best life when we remind ourselves every day that we each have a Money to Work unique purpose to fulfill that no one else can achieve. Discover your purpose and for You thrive!

Sheena Toliver I feel the theme dancing in your own uniqueness is a great topic because we are Your Money: all different ,unique and extraordinary people. We all come from such diverse Empowering Your backgrounds, however, we also need to share so that we can continue to grow. Money to Work “Always give and through giving you have already received numerous blessings, for You for giving of one’s self is just your reasonable service." — Sheena Toliver 2014 It’s About You Conference Speakers

Last year at Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Sigma Omega Chapter’s “It About You” Women’s Leadership Conference, Judge Penny taught us how to give our dreams a new beginning and I now believe that I will give birth to more in the future than I lost in the past. My latter will be greater! I love this event, the workshops, ac- tivities and gems of nuggets that are shared and I look forward to attending again this year.
