ACS (American Chemical Society) Primarily used for scientific papers published in journals of the American Chemical Society. AMA (American Medical Association) Recommended by the American Medical Association for scholarly writing about medicine or health-related topics. Guidelines can be found in the online AMA Manual of Style or in a simplified version at AMA MedStyle Stat. APA (American Psychological Association) APA Style is the most commonly used style guide within the social sciences. Guidelines can be found in the online APA Publication Manual, in the free APA style tutorial, and through the OWL at Purdue. Chicago Style / Turabian Chicago Style is used in some social science, historical and trade publications and can be found in its entirety at the Chicago Manual of Style Online. Turabian is very similar to Chicago Style but is primarily used in seminar papers, theses and dissertations rather than publications.
