Burt Bacharach Dusty Springfield The Look Of Love (1967).mp3 Burt Bacharach (12 mai 1928 à Kansas City, Missouri, États-Unis - ) est un pianiste et compositeur américain. Son nom est souvent associé à celui du parolier Hal David. Ils ont produit une œuvre considérable et reconnue qui fait du tandem Bacharach et David deux des plus grands compositeurs de la musique populaire américaine des années 1960 aux années 2000. De Gene Pitney à Trijntje Oosterhuis, en passant par Tom Jones, The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, B.J. Thomas, Dusty Springfield, The Carpenters, Isaac Hayes, Sacha Distel, Claude François, Ron Isley, The Stranglers et Diana Krall, tous ont chanté leur répertoire. L'interprète emblématique du tandem est Dionne Warwick, dont le nom est étroitement associé au répertoire et en particulier au tube Walk on By. Burt Bacharach est aussi connu pour avoir collaboré avec d'autres auteurs comme le rocker Elvis Costello. Son nom est associé au cinéma puisqu'il a composé pour des films (What's New Pussycat?, 1965; After the Fox (en), 1966; Casino Royale, 1967; Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid, 1969) et a été l'époux de l'actrice Angie Dickinson. En 2008, il fut un des plus virulents critiques du candidat à la présidence des É.-U. John McCain1. Burt s'est marié à quatre reprises : avec Paula Stewart du 22 décembre 1953 jusqu'à l'année 1958. avec Angie Dickinson de 1965 à 1980. Il a eu Nikki avec elle en 1966. avec Carole Bayer Sager de 1982 à 1991. Il a adopté un fils, Christopher, avec Carole. avec Jane Hansen depuis 1993. Il a eu deux enfants avec elle, Oliver et Raleigh. De son union avec Angie Dickinson est née leur fille, Léa Nikki en 1966, connue sous le nom de Nikki. Sa naissance trois mois avant terme, a entraîné des problèmes de santé chroniques (elle a passé les trois premiers mois de sa vie dans un incubateur), notamment une déficience visuelle. Elle a plus tard été diagnostiquée avec le syndrome d'Asperger. Burt lui a écrit la chanson Nikki. Angie a refusé plusieurs rôles afin de se concentrer sur les soins pour sa fille. Pierre Bachelet Pierre Bachelet - Emmanuelle.mp3 Pierre Bachelet, né le 25 mai 1944 à Paris et décédé le 15 février 2005 à Suresnes, est un chanteur et compositeur français. Pierre Bachelet naît le 25 mai 1944 dans le 12e arrondissement de Paris. Sa famille déménage à Calais, ville natale de son père, puis revient à Paris pendant sa jeunesse. Il est resté très attaché à Calais, où il aimait se ressourcer. Diplômé de l'école du cinéma, rue de Vaugirard, il part pour le Brésil réaliser un documentaire, Bahia meu Amor. Il commence sa carrière dans la publicité où il rencontre plusieurs réalisateurs avec qui il travaillera par la suite. Il fait l'habillage sonore de l'émission Dim, Dam, Dom. Il écrit de plus en plus les musiques de publicités et de documentaires de ses amis et connaissances. En 1973, il fonde le groupe Resonance avec Mat Camison. Son plus grand succès a été la bande originale du film Emmanuelle de Just Jaeckin : 1,4 million d'albums et 4 millions de disques simples sont vendus. Bachelet collabore aussi sur les films Coup de tête de Jean-Jacques Annaud, Les Bronzés font du ski, Gwendoline de Just Jaeckin et La Victoire en chantant. La chanson Pierre Bachelet enregistre sa première chanson en 1974 : Emmanuelle, en anglais et en français. Puis en 1975 L’Atlantique et son premier album. Il doit attendre 1980 pour connaître le succès du grand public avec son deuxième album : Elle est d’ailleurs. La chanson éponyme est vendue en 45 tours à 1,5 million d’exemplaires. L’album marque également le commencement d'une longue collaboration avec le parolier Jean-Pierre Lang. Le troisième album, en 1982, comprend le succès devenu classique Les Corons, sur le travail et la vie des mineurs. C’est l'année des premiers grands spectacles : première partie à l’Olympia de l’humoriste Patrick Sébastien, puis tournées en Europe francophone. En 1984, après son quatrième album (Découvrir l’Amérique), il est la vedette de l’Olympia. Il poursuit en 1985 et 1987 avec trois nouveaux albums qui comprennent les succès Marionnettiste, En l’an 2001, Vingt ans. Les tournées sont assurées d’un succès après chaque sortie d’album. Au début des années 1990, sortent un album en public (Bachelet en Scène) et une première rétrospective de ses meilleures chansons (Bachelet pour Toujours) , mais également un nouvel album (Quelque part c'est toujours ailleurs); il chante également les chansons Quelque part c'est toujours ailleurs, Flo et Thypon en duo avec la navigatrice Florence Arthaud. Les concerts l’amènent dans les îles de l’océan Indien et au Québec, où il connaît un grand succès. En 1995, il sort un album de chansons sur la ville (La ville ainsi soit-il) dont les textes ont été écrits avec l’écrivain Yann Queffélec.

Rosalie Parker (North Yorkshire: Tartarus, 2003) & Wormwood: Literature of the Fantastic, Supernatural & Decadent, 1­6, 2003­2006 Dara Downey the horror genre is extremely limber, extremely adaptable, extremely useful; the author or filmmaker can use it as a crowbar to lever open locked doors or a small, slim pick to tease the tumblers into giving. The genre can thus be used to open almost any lock on the fears which lie behind the door […]. (Stephen King, Danse Macabre (1982), 163) When King is at his best, he can be remarkably adept at cutting to the core of the genre of which he is the self­proclaimed “King”. Nevertheless, however astute such isolated observations as the above comment might be, it is always possible to find another, equally astute observation, that both contradicts what he is saying and undermines whatever favourable impression of his analytical skills we may have. Elsewhere in Danse Macabre, for example, King states confidently that Henry James’ “The Turn of the Screw, with its elegant drawing­room prose and its tightly woven psychological logic, has had very little influence on the American masscult” of mainstream horror (Danse Macabre, 66). What this suggests is that the flexibility which he sees as the defining characteristic of horror has (for him at any rate) a breaking point, a suggestion well in line with his near­hysterical insistence that aesthetic values and intellectual rigour are antithetical to the aims and effects of the genre. It is precisely this sort of inverted snobbery that Tartarus Press are striving to overthrow.

Across these venues the figure of the “vanishing animal” emerges as a dominant trope, as modern extinctions and the explosion of machine culture combine to frame animals within a spectral logic—disappearing, but more visible than ever. The first half of this dissertation examines the extensive technological, ideological, and representational apparatus through which animals and animal life are rendered in modern American culture, while the second half explores a significant, if surprising, correlative phenomenon whereby the modernized figure of the animal returns to haunt, and in fact disrupt, the very technics that facilitated its emergence in the first place.

    Oral History Collection on the Performing Arts in America Southern Methodist University The Southern Methodist University Oral History Program was begun in 1972 and is part of the University’s DeGolyer Institute for American Studies. The goal is to gather primary source material for future writers and cultural historians on all branches of the performing arts- opera, ballet, the concert stage, theatre, films, radio, television, burlesque, vaudeville, popular music, jazz, the circus, and miscellaneous amateur and local productions. The Collection is particularly strong, however, in the areas of motion pictures and popular music and includes interviews with celebrated performers as well as a wide variety of behind-the-scenes personnel, several of whom are now deceased. Most interviews are biographical in nature although some are focused exclusively on a single topic of historical importance. The Program aims at balancing national developments with examples from local history. Interviews with members of the Dallas Little Theatre, therefore, serve to illustrate a nation-wide movement, while film exhibition across the country is exemplified by the Interstate Theater Circuit of Texas. The interviews have all been conducted by trained historians, who attempt to view artistic achievements against a broad social and cultural backdrop. Many of the persons interviewed, because of educational limitations or various extenuating circumstances, would never write down their experiences, and therefore valuable information on our nation’s cultural heritage would be lost if it were not for the S.M.U. Oral History Program. Interviewees are selected on the strength of (1) their contribution to the performing arts in America, (2) their unique position in a given art form, and (3) availability.

    COMPLETE FILM NOIR (1940 thru 1965) Page 1 of 18 CONSENSUS FILM NOIR (1940 thru 1959) (1960-1965) dThe idea for a COMPLETE FILM NOIR LIST came to me when I realized that I was “wearing out” a then recently purchased copy of the Film Noir Encyclopedia, 3rd edition. My initial plan was to make just a list of the titles listed in this reference so I could better plan my film noir viewing on AMC (American Movie Classics). Realizing that this plan was going to take some keyboard time, I thought of doing a search on the Internet Movie DataBase (here after referred to as the IMDB). By using the extended search with selected criteria, I could produce a list for importing to a text editor. Since that initial list was compiled almost twenty years ago, I have added additional reference sources, marked titles released on NTSC laserdisc and NTSC Region 1 DVD formats. When a close friend complained about the length of the list as it passed 600 titles, the idea of producing a subset list of CONSENSUS FILM NOIR was born. Several years ago, a DVD producer wrote me as follows: “I'd caution you not to put too much faith in the film noir guides, since it's not as if there's some Film Noir Licensing Board that reviews films and hands out Certificates of Authenticity. The authors of those books are just people, limited by their own knowledge of and access to films for review, so guidebooks on noir are naturally weighted towards the more readily available studio pictures, like Double Indemnity or Kiss Me Deadly or The Big Sleep, since the many low-budget B noirs from indie producers or overseas have mostly fallen into obscurity.” There is truth in what the producer says, but if writers of (film noir) guides haven’t seen the films, what chance does an ordinary enthusiast have.
