Volume XXIV No. 13 Hometown Newspaper for Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Glen Head, Glenwood, Locust Valley and Brookville Week of 11/20/14 75C Sea Cliff Remembers Their Veterans By Carol Griffin Sea Cliff American Legion Post #345 led by Commander Phil Como gathered with many local veterans to remember all veterans at Clifton Park in the Village on Veteran's Day November 11. Notable was the fact that a group of four veterans present all over 90 years of age had served as far back as WWII, John Kle, George Christman, Charles Bell, Don Adams, and Nino Luciano were present. Legion Com- mander Phil Como also noted the fact that two other Sea Cliff World War II veterans Vito Capuco and Andrew Martone only died this past year. Rev. Kirkland Watkins, a veteran and pastor of the United Methodist Church in Sea Cliff welcomed everyone and singer Kathy Virgilio sang God Bless America. Mayor Bruce Kennedy spoke. He thanked the members of the James F. Brengel Amer- ican Legion Post #345 for participating in this annual ceremony. He said "behind the endurance and success of American liberty, is because in every generation to the pres- ent day, brave Americans have stepped for- ward and served honorably in the Armed forces of the United States. Everyone of them deserves the thanks and the admira- tion of our entire country". At the close of the memorial, the veter- ans were invited for lunch provided by the Many Sea Cliff Veterans present at Clifton Park in Sea Cliff on Veteran's Day.
