AB-Türkiye Kültürlerarası Diyalog Müzeler Hibe Programı (The Civil Society Facility EU - Turkey Intercultural Dialogue: Museums (ICD-MUSE) Program) kapsamında“Türkiye’de Kent Müzeciliğine Giriş” başlıklı projemiz, henüz müzemiz açılmadan hazırlanmıştı. İstanbul’un ilk kent müzesi olan Adalar Müzesi için böyle bir proje çok anlamlıydı. Yunanistan Midilli ve İsveç Stokholm’ün merkez ilçelerinden Nacka’dan müzelerle ortak çalışma SUNUŞ sonucu, birçok aktivite ile birlikte müzenin ilk sergilerinden birini bu program kapsamında açmayı hedeflemiştik. Avrupa Birliği Programı gecikti, 2011 Kasım ayında başlayabildi. Bu arada Yunanistan’daki krizden etkilenerek kapılarını kapatmak zorunda kalan ortağımız değişti. Ama yineYunanistan’dan İskeçe Folklor Müzesi (Folk Museum of Xanthi) ortağımız oldu. Projenin ürünlerinden biri olacak serginin konusunu, ortaklarımız ve iştirakçilerimizle işbirliği sürecinde belirleyecektik. İlginç bir şekilde, hem Stokholm Nacka Belediyesi’ne bağlı H.A.M.N Müze projesi ve hem de İskeçe Folklor Müzesi, tıpkı Adalar gibi, iç ve dış göç hareketlerinin kentleri üzerinde yarattığı etkileri gündemlerine almışlar ve bu alanda çalışmalar yapmaktaydılar. 2011 yılı sonunda, yani bu projeye başladığımızda, Adalar Müzesi olarak biz de göç sorunsalını tartışmaya başlamış ve 2014 yılını kendimize hedef olarak koymuştuk. Dolayısıyla, belirlediğimiz bir dizi konu arasından “göç” sergi konusu olarak öne çıktı. Ve proje kapsamında açtığımız sergiye, 2014’te yapacağımız büyük çaplı sergiler dizisine bir geçiş oluşturması için“Göç Bağlantıları Sergisi Projesi” adını verdik.Yani serginin kendisi 2 hatta 3 yıllık dev bir projenin bir parçası haline geliverdi. Bu proje ve sergi çalışmalarında, en az ortaklarımız kadar aktif işbirliği içinde bulunduğumuz bir başka müze de vardı. Kreuzberg, bilindiği gibi Berlin’de küçük İstanbul olarak anılan bir semt. Kreuzberg Müzesi, Berlin’in neredeyse göç ile şekillenmiş bu bölgesinin çok aktif, verimli ve çalışkan bir müzesi. Sergimizde onların büyük katkısı oldu. İlk teşekkürümüz, Kreuzberg Müzesi direktörü Martin Düspohl ve Kreuzberg Müzesi küratörlerinden Özcan Ayanoğlu’na. Ve Stockholm Nacka Belediyesi H.A.M.N Müzesi İletişim Koordinatörü Sirje Miller, Müze Danışmanı Dagmar Nordberg, Xanthi Folklor Müzesi Müdürü Paschalis Xanthopoulos, Sanat Tarihçi Kiki Christodoulou, Basın Danışmanı Sami Karabıyıkoğlu’na, Goethe Enstitüsü İstanbul Şubesi’nden Anna Esser’e, Köln Kent Müzesi’nden Sascha Pries ve elbette kent müzeciliği deneyimleri ile çok sevgili Amsterdam Tarih Müzesi Küratörü Annemarie de Wildt’e katkıları için teşekkürlerimizi unutmuyoruz. İsveç‘te yaşayan güncel sanatçımız Hakan Akçura‘ya göçmen deneyimlerini paylaştığı ilgi çekici işleri ile sergiye katıldığı için çok teşekkür ederiz. Bu proje kapsamında Adalar’da çok önemli bir saha çalışması da gerçekleşti. Maltepe Üniversitesi’nin değerli öğretim üyeleri Prof. Dr. Belma Akşit ve Prof. Dr. Bahattin Akşit’in 21 doktora, yüksek lisans ve lisans öğrencisinin katılımıyla yürüttüğü araştırma çalışması Adalar’daYaşayanlar veYaşamları üzerine çok değerli verileri müzeye kazandırdı. Bu veriler hem bu kitabın, hem de serginin ana unsurlarından birini oluştururken, gelecekte yapacağımız çalışmalara da çok önemli bir altlık yarattı. Bu altlık, Şehir Üniversitesi Şehir Araştırmaları Merkezi Direktörü Prof. Dr. Murat Güvenç tarafından farklı biçimlerde değerlendirebileceğimiz ve kullanabileceğimiz haritalar ve veri tabanları haline getirildi.     Assessment of Social Vulnerability Using Geographic Information Systems: Pendik, Istanbul Case Study Zeynep Haki, Zuhal Akyürek, Şebnem Düzgün Middle East Technical University, Natural and Applied Sciences, Geodetic and Geographic Information Technologies 06531- Ankara, Turkey [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] SUMMARY This study aims to develop a methodology to define vulnerable groups in terms of their social conditions for any possible hazard, with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technology, in the case study area of earthquake-prone Pendik, Istanbul. In the calculation of social vulnerability certain indicators were estimated and used as criterion data. Criterion standardization, weighting and combining were accomplished by means of multi-criteria evaluation (MCE) methods, the theoretical background being based on the multi-attribute utility theory (MAUT). In order to avoid the subjectivity of the assessment, 10 more evaluations are utilized. The results show that, the income- and educational-level indicators are the most important factors in defining the social vulnerability. These outputs are supported with some explorative spatial data analyses to understand global trends and spatial interactions in order to be used in pre- and post-disaster planning. Besides, to determine the physical effects of basic services and transportation, some GIS Analyses are applied. The objectivity of the assessment and the complicated structure of the study data are discussed for an effective disaster management. The main outcomes of the methodology and its applications show that, the southwest part of Pendik is socially vulnerable to any possible hazard.     A VIEW OF THE HISTORY OF THE ISTANBUL FACULTY OF MEDICINE Prof. Dr. Nuran Yıldırım The Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, the Department of History of Medicine and Ethics Attributing the roots of the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine to the Fatih Darüşşifa after a great deal of discussion, the 500th anniversary of medical education in Istanbul was celebrated in 1970. The soundest documents showing that medical education was carried out in the Fatih Dârüşşifa were the appointment papers (rüus) of medical students for the dârüşşifa in the 60 years between 1723 and 1783. These nine rüus, which were recently published, clarify that there were positions for six medical students in the dârüşşifa, and that whenever a vacancy came up, a new medical student would be appointed by the chief physician to undergo a systematic medical training. 1-Archival document concerning Ismail Efendi‟s appointment in place of Derviş Mehmet in Fatih Darüşşifa after his death. With the opening of the Süleymaniye Medical Medrese, medical education in Istanbul, which had started with the Fatih Dârüşşifa, became institutionalized. The opening of a medical medrese for the first time in the Ottoman State is accepted as being an important step in our history of medical education. The Süleymaniye Medical Medrese (Süleymaniye Tıp Medresesi) was a medrese for specializing, or a “post-graduate” course, as only students who had completed their classic medrese education could continue. Not only did the physicians that were trained join the scholarly classes, but at the same time they could be qadi or rising even to the level of sheikh-ul-Islam or grand vizier.

Through this form of a new city read, information on daily urban and social practices, global impacts and urban and economic effects of consumption over space would be exposed among five different thematic constellations rooted from Guy Debord's The Society of the Spectacle. The author aims to clarify socio-spatial constellations over space, time and current trends by deconstructing the current city formation of Istanbul. Summary: Species composition and abundance of octocoral assemblages were investigated in the Sea of Marmara, which forms the connection between the Mediterranean and the Black Seas, two semi-enclosed seas with peculiar oceanographic conditions. Fourteen octocoral species were collected in the saline layer of the Marmara Sea (20-40 m), with a mean coral abundance of 5.21±5.11 colonies m–2 (mean ± SD) calculated from a total of 1390 colonies counted in transects. In spite of severe anthropogenic disturbances, dense assemblages of corals/gorgonians were observed during this study. The coral- ligenous communities—one of the most valuable structures of the Mediterranean Sea—harbored either Eunicella cavolini or Paramuricea macrospina as the dominant gorgonian in the Marmara Sea. Furthermore, the gorgonian assemblages of the Marmara Sea differed from those of the Mediterranean in their high abundance of P. macrospina and Spinimuricea klavereni, two species rarely encountered in the Mediterranean Sea at the studied depth range. The factors behind the observed differ- ences are discussed in regard to the particular oceanographic conditions of the Marmara Sea. Finally, we revised the main threats to corals/gorgonians in the Marmara Sea and provided some insights on management recommendations for coral conservation in this area.
