But we have put her under the spotlight too. As a female projectionist she is already a relative rarity. However, Linda works alongside her eldest Steve and we reckon that the mother and son team must be pretty unique. Steve, named after Mr McQueen and nicknamed Spike, was virtually born into the cinema world, first joining his mum at work when he was around two weeks old, safely snuggled in a Moses basket. “He grew up to be as fascinated as I am, and soon wanted to be more hands on. He first progressed to pressing the buttons to operate the house lights and curtains,” says Linda, who has been projectionist at Tewkesbury’s Roses Theatre for more than 30 years. “I showed my first film, Titanic, when I was nine.
