Congratulations Leduc Transit!

Crestline Confidential Information Congratulations to Crestline’s Spotlight on Success Recipient

We’re honoring and shining the Crestline spotlight on Leduc Transit who provides safe, reliable

and comfortable transportation to the citizens of the City of Leduc and , !

The Leduc region is located directly south of the City of Edmonton, and is home to more than 65,000 citizens. It’s a vibrant community growing at a rapid pace, with a 35% growth rate from 2006 to 2014.

Leduc Transit is celebrating one year in service next month!

In September 2014, Leduc County and the City of Leduc expanded the existing single-route service to form Leduc Transit, a multi-route local and commuter transit service which connects individuals to community attractions and major employment hubs in the region.

With financial assistance obtained through Alberta Transportation’s Green Transit Incentives Program (GreenTRIP) as well as financial commitments from both Leduc County and the City of Leduc, the two municipalities were able to expand the existing transit service to include additional routes, three park-and-ride locations and a brand new garage to house the new fleet of four New Flyer Xcelsiors and five Arboc Spirit of Mobility buses.

Crestline Confidential Information “It’s a proud and humbling moment when you realize you can now provide an alternative means of transportation for residents travelling to work, school and important life events,” says Kevin Wenzel, Manager of Public Transportation for the City of Leduc. “We also provide service for Edmonton residents who commute to the major employment hubs in Leduc and .”

With one commuter route, three local routes and 112 bus stop locations connecting Leduc, Nisku, the Edmonton International Airport and Edmonton, it’s no wonder this group is passionate about its transit system. Just one example of how Leduc Transit enhances the lives of local citizens is by providing students an affordable means of transportation to and from post-secondary institutions. Students with a U-Pass pay only $1 each way for use of Leduc Transit.

“We are proud of the collaboration between Leduc County and the City of Leduc to bring the region a superior-quality transit service,” says Rick Thomas, General Manager of Community Services with Leduc County. “Our ridership continues to increase and we look forward to the continued benefits this service provides to our residents and the environment.”

Leduc Transit is also responsible for the operation of Leduc Assisted Transportation Service (LATS), which has actively served the community since 2007. LATS provides transportation for seniors and individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, who require transportation to programs, employment opportunities, medical appointments and other social outings. We find it inspiring to know that LATS is continually thinking of ways to engage its community with the intention of enhancing riders’ lives and wellbeing. A small example of this effort is that each December, LATS offers free transportation in exchange for a donation to the local food bank.

Freedom. Choice. Dignity. That’s Leduc Transit to us.
