Over the years, passionate sports fishermen, including Martin Luther King Jr, Howard Hughes and former U.S. President Richard Nixon, have all been captivated by Bimini’s Gulf Stream waters, which teem with marlin, swordfish and giant tuna, making Bimini the game fishing capital of the world. Bimini is easily reached by a short flight or a cruise ferry from the U.S. and the smattering of small island hotels and a casino resort offer contrasting island experiences. Diving is popular here, and real enthusiasts can tick diving with hammerhead sharks off their bucket lists, when these amazing animals come between November and April every year.
