'A visit to this retired spot afford pleasure to a lover of the picturesque of wild and simple nature. The village itself is in the form of a triangle, and the three sides of which enclose a village green, with a stream flowing through the midst of it, on which is held an annual fair. One side of the triangle is formed by a substancial house ... Another by primitive thatched cottages whose walls are well covered with flowing creepers, whilst the lower and third side consists of a pretty well restored church and churchyard, evidently duly honoured, and a neat substancial National School'. The Haverfordwest and Milford Haven Telegraph, 8,h June, 1892. A warm welcome is extended to CAPEL to Little Newcastle for the 2014 spring meeting. The discerning visitor will soon realise that this description of the village is still fundamentally true: the village largely grouped around the green, somewhat of an unusual feature in Wales. But the 'green' is in fact the remains of the castle motte, built by Adam de la Rupe in the twelfth century and it is this which has given the village its name. While the thatched cottages have long since gone, the stream piped and the fairs now a part of history, the 'substancial house', the church and school survive. Referring to the school as 'substantial'was generous for what was a very small building, but in 2007- 2008 it was restored and extended to provide villagers with a facility in which to meet and hold events. -

Peninsula Papers Information and news for the communities of St Ishmaels, Hasguard, Robeston West, Walwyn’s Castle, Dale, St Brides and Marloes. Sand Art at Lindsway Bay. Picture by Jeff Taylor taken on 11th April. The Sand Art is created by Pembrokeshire artist Jon Foreman - search for Sculpt the World on Facebook or Google. This is quite a “rough and ready” design - they are usually much more formal and quite spectacular. He often uses Lindsway Bay as his canvas. His creations with shells and rocks are also truly wonderful . Adroddiad Blynyddol 1947
ADRODDIAD BLYNYDDOL / ANNUAL REPORT 1946-47 J T EVANS 1947001 Ffynhonnell / Source The late the Reverend J T Evans, Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A. Blwyddyn / Year Adroddiad Blynyddol / Annual Report 1946-47 Disgrifiad / Description In December 1937, Rev J T Evans wrote to the Librarian stating that it was his intention to present to the National Library his file of Y Drych, the Welsh-American weekly newspaper, and other Welsh publications. Mr Evans, however, died in 1939 before he could carry out his intention. His widow felt that it was incumbent upon her to do so, but the outbreak of the World War in September made it inexpedient to transport the books and periodicals from the United States to this country. In order to safeguard the collection, the Librarian of the Public Library, Minneapolis, and his staff packed the material in boxes and stored it in the Public Library there. In June 1945, negotiations were started with a view to making arrangements for forwarding the boxes to Aberystwyth. It was not until December 1946, however, that the collection was delivered at the National Library. The collection consists mainly of an unbound file of Y Drych, 1889-1940, and bound and unbound volumes of Welsh and Welsh-American periodicals such as Y Cyfaill, 1852-1933, Y Traethodydd, 1813-18, The Cambrian, 1897-99, etc. (Dept of Printed Books) There are also a few books, nearly all of which were published in America and some of which are new to the Library (Dept of Prited Books). The Librarian is indebted, not only to Mrs Evans, but also to the Librarian of the Public Library, Minneapolis, and his colleague, Miss Lois M Jordan, Head of the Order Department, for the care which they took to safeguard the collection. -
