For us, dyeing is a cosmic adventure — a wonderful process of mixing each colour by hand and seeing where it takes us. The result is yarn that is as exciting for you as it is for us. There was a Space Cadet of Space Cadet in the house while I was growing up, but I also did a Space Cadet of dumb things. Eventually the nickname started to stick, and I began to feel like I really was a space cadet. Sometimes I still do. I would baptise that nickname with a whole new meaning. I love what I do. I love creating colours, creating yarns, and giving my customers something beautiful to feed their creative juices. And so I can say, at last, that I am truly proud to be the SpaceCadet. Science Fiction Book Club Interview with Author David Gerrold
Science Fiction Book Club Interview with Author David Gerrold- April 2018 David Gerrold is the writer of the legendary Star Trek episode "The Trouble With Tribbles," and he was also involved in the early days of Star Trek the Next Generation (TNG). He created the Sleestak race on the TV series Land of the Lost, his novelette "The Martian Child", won both Hugo and Nebula awards. And he is the writer of "The War Against the Chtorr" series and "Star Wolf" series and such novels as "The Man Who Folded Himself," which was nominated for both the Hugo and Nebula. John Grayshaw- What Science fiction stories do you remember reading when you were growing up? Aside from a couple of children’s books, the first real SF books I read were the Heinlein juveniles, Red Planet, Space Cadet, Between Planets — they felt so real that I wondered if Heinlein had actually lived those adventures. The library turned me on to Eric Frank Russell, Isaac Asimov, Murray Leinster, A.E. Van Vogt, Hal Clement, Henry Kuttner, Fred Pohl, Cyril Kornbluth, and so many others. The Groff Conklin anthologies introduced me to the classic SF that had been published in the magazines. Individual stories that still resonate with me include Microcosmic God (Theodore Sturgeon), The Black Destroyer (A.E. Van Vogt), all of the stories about “The People” (Zenna Henderson), and of course, All You Zombies by Heinlein. John Grayshaw- What science fiction stories have most influenced your writing? All of them, probably. A lot of Heinlein. A lot of Ellison. A lot of Delany. -

A Research Guide to the Fiction of Robert A. Heinlein
The Man Who Sold the Future: A Research Guide to the Fiction of Robert A. Heinlein. Candace R. Benefiel College Station, TX March , 2001 1 2 Section One Introduction In the years between 1939 and 1969, Robert A. Heinlein was widely acknowledged to be the “Dean of American Science Fiction Writers.” Although styles and tastes in science fiction have changed over the years, Heinlein is still considered one of the foremost writers in the field, and many of his works are considered classics. Bibliography for Heinlein presents several challenges. The primary materials are often publications in “pulp” magazines and other popular periodicals. For many of these serials indexing is at best spotty, at worst, non-existant. Many of Heinlein’s novels were first published in serial form, then published as books under different titles. In some cases, the book versions were revised extensively. As many of the young adult novels were published just in time to take advantage of the Christmas buying season, one has to imagine the disappointment of children excitedly opening their new Heinlein book, only to find a story they had already read in Boy’s Life. Some of the short stories have been anthologized repeatedly; others remained uncollected for decades after their first appearances. Non-fiction essays and speeches pose yet another problem, one which the present guide sidesteps by focusing only on fiction. Citations for primary sources were drawn from the various bibliographies on Heinlein, including a bibliography which appeared as an appendix to Grumbles from the Grave, and Donald Day’s Index to the Science Fiction Magazines, 1926-1950 (Boston: Hall 1982). -
