Using Vargas 1-12 by Ernst Wilhelm Using Vargas 1-12 By Ernst Wilhelm www.astrology-videos.com Vargas 1-12 are the safest Vargas to use on account of them being less time sensitive than the remaining Vargas (Vargas 16-60). As you have thus far learned, all Vargas influence all areas of life, though each varga is of most importance for one area of life. While all these Vargas interrelate, there are a few stronger interrelationships that the astrologer can use to good advantage: Hora & Chaturthamsa: The Hora is the foundation of the Chaturthamsa just 2 squared equals 4 and as the Moon is the father of Mercury, the two most important planets respectively in these two Vargas. Drekkana & Navamsa: The Drekkana is the foundation of the Navamsa just as 3 squared equals 9. The two most important Grahas in these two Vargas, Mars and Venus, also have a synergetic relationship. Chaturthamsa & Saptamsa: Both the 4th and 7th Bhavas are important in these two Vargas. Then of course the critical Bhavas in each Varga must be carefully examined as per the table: =Remainder Square Root Varga / 12 Reduction Addition Square Varga 1 – Concrete Manifestation that is the Realm of Our Existence 1 – Rasi 1 - 1 1 1 2 – Hora 2 - 3 - 4 3 – Drikkana 3 - 6 - 9 4 – Chaturthamsa 4 - 1 2 7 7 – Saptamsa 7 - 1 - 4 9 – Navamsa 9 - 9 3 9 10 – Dasamsa 10 1 1 - 1 12 – Dvadasamsa 12 3 6 - 9 Thus if one wishes to judge the 3rd Bhava properly, one should pay particular attention to it in the Hora, Drekkana, Navamsa and Dvadasamsa. COMBINING VARGAS 1-12 Each of the Vargas represents one area of fate: Rasi: Bodily fate and fated path. Hora: Fate of one's responsibilities, those things that one must take care off as an extension of themselves. Drekkana: Fate to benefit from associates, siblings, etc. Chaturthamsa: Fate of getting one's fair share. Saptamsa: Fate to share and benefit with another so as to create more than one can do by themselves. Navamsa: Fate to be anchored in life and thus make the most out of life. Dasamsa: Fate for greatness. Dvadasamsa: Ancestral/inherited fate. An individual will enjoy or suffer an aspect of life as the result of any of these different types of fates and thus all things, meaning all Bhavas, should be studied in each of these Vargas. Normally, there will be a mix of fate to enjoy and fate to suffer. There are two important points to consider to evaluate if the aspect of life under consideration will be more or less satisfactory as a whole - will it be bearable and fulfilling even with the unpleasant aspects it brings into life? These two points are: 1. The critical Bhava in the critical Varga. 2. Whether the Karaka Graha is influencing the Bhava in many Vargas from a Subha Dignity. This can happen in three ways: a. It aspects the Bhava cusp in the Rasi. b. It joins the Bhava cusp in the Rasi. c. It rules the Bhava cusp in the varga under consideration. COMMONLY USED BHAVA KARAKAS Grahas are the producers or Karakas. What is produced? The concrete Bhavas. Grahas are, therefore, the producers of the Bhavas. Each Graha will produce something unique in the context of the Bhavas, what all these things are are too numerous to know, but the commonly used ones are listed below: Sun produces the body of the 1st Bhava. The Moon produces the family of the 2nd Bhava. Mars produces the siblings of the 3rd Bhava. Mercury produces the fortune of wealth of the 4th Bhava. Jupiter produces the conception of the 7th Bhava. Venus produces the marriage or choice of path of the 9th Bhava. Saturn produces the great deeds of the 10th Bhava. Sun produces the power to rule of the 10th Bhava. Sun/Venus produce the body of the father of the 10th Bhava. Moon/Mars produces the body of the mother. Mars produces the enemies of the 6th Bhava. Venus produces the vehicles of the 4th Bhava. Venus produces romantic relationships of the 7th Bhava. Jupiter produces the body of the children of the 5th Bhava. Jupiter produces the income of the 11th Bhava. Mercury produces the friends of the 2nd Bhava. Mercury produces the business partnerships of the 7th Bhava. Mercury produces the educational degree of the 11th Bhava. .

Sri Jagannath Vedic Center, USA Drig dasa August 23, 2002 Ukiah, USA © Robert Koch, 2002 – Published in Jyotish Digest 1 Ascetic Yogas THE PATH OF SELF-REALIZATION Robert Koch Robert Koch was initiated as Sri Patraka Das at the lotus feet of H.H. Sri Srimad A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in March, 1971. He lived in India for 6 years till 1983, studying Jyotish and has received certificate of commendation for spreading Hindu astrology in the USA, from the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, in 1999. Web site: http://www.robertkoch.com n the first Canto of the great Vedic Purana Srimad Bhagavatam, there is a very interesting and instructional conversation that took place between a bull personifying I Dharma, or religion, and Bhumi, the mother earth in the form of a cow. The bull was standing on one leg, suggesting that that one out of four pillars of religious principles (represented by each leg of Dharma, the bull) was still existing, and that in itself was faltering with the progress of Kali-yuga. The four legs of the Dharma are truthfulness, cleanliness, mercy, and austerity. If most or all of these legs of Dharma are broken, or if 3 out of 4 Dharmic principles exist very rarely, in human society, then we can be confident that Kali-yuga – the age of quarrel and darkness – is well upon us. Given that there are some rare souls existing who speak and live the Supreme Absolute Truth, as is found in various Vedic literatures, the remaining leg of truthfulness still exists. Such persons are characterized by complete self-control, or the ability to detach themselves from the relative world of the senses and the objects of sense pleasure.

  • Drekkana Varga by Ernst Wilhelm
Drekkana Varga By Ernst Wilhelm www.astrology-videos.com “Happiness, etc. with relations should be known from Drekkana.” -Sanketi Nidhi “A planet in its own decanate confers virtues".” -Saravali Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra states that the Drekkana indicates happiness with siblings, though Sanketi Nidhi expands upon this idea to include happiness with all relations. An important point, the Drekkana indicates the happiness that the native has with siblings/relations, not the life of the siblings. The life of the siblings is indicated by the relevant Bhava cusp that represents the sibling (3rd for younger, 11th for elder) and that Bhava cusp needs to be read in all Vargas – that is how the life of the siblings is to be read. What the Drekkana itself represents is the capacity that we have to work with all our relations towards mutually fulfilling goals and thus it indicates our happiness with our relations. Afflicted Bhavas and afflicted lords indicate those people in our live with whom we work less effectively; while strong Bhavas and lords in good Lajjitaadi Avasthas indicate those people with whom we work very effectively. Individuals with a good Drekkana are socially able, while those with troubled Drekkanas are socially unable. Remember that the 3rd Bhava, for which the Drekkana is the important Varga, represents an individual’s social ability. The social ability represented by the Drekkana and by the 3rd Bhava is initially developed through the association with siblings, and so ability with siblings is an important aspect of the Drekkana, but the Drekkana is not limited to our social ability with just siblings, it reflects our social ability with everyone that we come across.
