Predicting with Transits by Ernst Wilhelm Predicting with Transits By Ernst Wilhelm www.astrology-videos.com Thanks to computers, which an easily calculate transits, transits are an effective and simple method for making predictions. This was not so in ancient times when calculating transits was cumbersome work. In order to make accurate and specific predictions, however, both standard planetary aspects and Rasi aspects have to be used and these both have to be used in conjunction with the Vargas. Activation Points Predicting with transits is based upon determining when certain points become activated by transiting planets. When these points are activated, an event happens. The points that can be activated are the following: 1. A Bhava Cusp 2. The Lords of a Bhava Cusp (The plural is used for Lord as a Bhava has several lords, one in each Varga.) 3. A Graha as a Karaka 4. A Jaimini Cara Karaka These points can be activated Broadly or Exactly. When they are activated Broadly a window of opportunity exits for the point to manifest. This window may be only a few days or up to a few months long. A point is activated Exactly when it is activated by an exact conjunction or aspect. Within the window of opportunity of Broad activation, when the same point or point of similar meaning is activated Exactly, the event happens on the day of the Exact activation. Vargas and an Activation Point's Lord The term Lord applies not necessarily to the lord in the Rasi, but to the lord of the relevant Varga and always to the Shastiamsa lord. Thus each activation point has two important lords: its Shastiamsa Lord and its relevant Varga lord. Broad Activation through Jaimini's 2nd Source of Strength When one of the activation points is joined or rasi aspected by Jupiter, Mercury or its lord a window of opportunity exits for an event to happen. The more of these influences, the more significant the window of opportunity becomes, thus the biggest events happen when all of Jupiter, Mercury, the Varga lord and the Shastiamsa Lord are joining or aspecting the activation point. Vargas in Broad Activation The term Lord applies not necessarily to the lord in the Rasi, but to the lord of the relevant Varga and always to the Shastiamsa lord. Thus each activation point has two important lords: its Shastiamsa Lord and its relevant Varga lord. Trigger Transits Trigger Transits are simply exact transits that activate an activation point and thus indicate the day that an event will happen. The important things to examine are the following: • The Lagna • The Lagna Lord • The Karaka of Self - the Sun • The Atmakaraka • The Bhava Cusps • The Bhava Lords • The Grahas as Karakas • Jaimini Cara Karakas (AK, AmK, BK, MK, PuK, PK, GK, DK) • Jupiter's Transit • Transit of the Full Moon Certain transits between these factors trigger an event. A transit is strongly in effect when the planets and points are in the same 1/9 part of a Rasi. So a planet in the 3rd Navamsa of Aries is in strong trine to a planet in the 3rd Navamsa of Leo. A transit is exact when the degrees, minutes and seconds are the same. Rasi aspects when strong and exact follow the reverse, so a planet in the 3rd Navamsa of a Rasi strongly aspects a planet in the 7th Navamsa of another Rasi and a planet in the 11th degree of one Rasi will Rasi aspect a planet in the 19th degree of another. Transits to Natal Positions • The transiting Lagna Lord, Sun or Atmakaraka crosses the Bhava cusp. • The transiting Lagna Lord, Sun or Atmakaraka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Bhava Lord, Karaka or Jaimini Karaka. • The transiting Karaka crosses the Bhava cusp. • The transiting Karaka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Bhava lord or Jaimini Karaka. • The transiting Karaka crosses the Lagna. • The transiting Karaka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Lagna lord, AK or Sun. • The transiting Jaimini Karaka crosses the Bhava cusp. • The transiting Jaimini Karaka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Bhava lord or Karaka. • The transiting Jaimini Karaka crosses the Lagna. • The transiting Jaimini Karaka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Lagna lord, AK or Sun. • Transiting Jupiter crosses the Bhava cusp. • Transiting Jupiter joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Bhava Lord, Karaka or Jaimini Karaka. • Transiting Full Moon crosses the Bhava cusp. • Transiting Full Moon joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Bhava Lord, Karaka or Jaimini Karaka. Transits to Transits • The transiting Lagna Lord, Sun or Atmakaraka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Bhava Lord, Karaka or Jaimini Karaka. • The transiting Karaka joins, aspects or trines the transiting Bhava lord or Jaimini Karaka. • The transiting Jaimini Karaka joins, aspects or trines the transiting Bhava lord or Karaka. • Transiting Jupiter joins, aspects or trines the transiting Bhava Lord, Karaka or Jaimini Karaka. Won't do by itself, but augments effects of similar transits. Trigger Transits for Vargas The Rasi chart indicates Deha, the body, which is the physical manifestation of anything, thus for an event to occur, there must be a trigger transit taking place between factors in the Rasi chart as has been thus far taught. The trigger transits between Rasi chart factors bring about the physical connection between the individual and some object of a Bhava or Graha. Bhavas and Grahas, however, rule many things and to differentiate between which things ruled by a Bhava or Graha will actually manifest trigger transits between Varga factors must happen simultaneously with trigger transits between Rasi chart factors. The transits are not looked for in the Varga, rather Bhava lords are taken from the Vargas and their transits looked for in the sky just as is done for Rasi chart trigger transits. The important things to examine from the Varga are the following: • The Lagna Lord of the Varga • The Bhava Lords from the Varga Just as is done for the Rasi factors, certain transits between these two Varga factors, Karakas and Rasi factors will trigger an event relative to that Varga: Transits to Natal Positions • The Varga Lagna lord crosses the Bhava Cusp. • The Varga Lagna lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Varga Bhava lord. • The Varga Lagna lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Rasi Bhava lord. • The Varga Lagna lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Karaka or Jaimini Karaka. • The Varga Bhava lord crosses the Lagna. • The Varga Bhava lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Varga Lagna lord. • The Varga Bhava lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Rasi Lagna lord. • The Varga Bhava lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Sun or Atmakaraka. • The Varga Bhava lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Karaka or Jaimini Karaka. • The transiting Rasi Lagna Lord, Sun or Atmakaraka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Varga Bhava Lord. • Transiting Jupiter joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Varga Bhava Lord. • The transiting Karaka or Jaimini Karaka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Varga Bhava Lord. • The transiting Full Moon joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Varga Bhava Lord. • The Rasi Bhava lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Varga Lagna Lord. • The Karaka or Jaimini Karaka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the Varga Lagna Lord. Transits to Transits • The transiting Varga Lagna lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Varga Bhava lord. • The transiting Varga Lagna lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Rasi Bhava lord. • The transiting Varga Lagna lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Karaka or Jaimini Karaka. • The transiting Varga Bhava lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Varga Lagna lord. • The transiting Varga Bhava lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Rasi Lagna lord. • The transiting Varga Bhava lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Sun or Atmakaraka. • The transiting Varga Bhava lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Karaka or Jaimini Karaka. • The transiting Rasi Lagna Lord, Sun or Atmakaraka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Varga Bhava Lord. • Transiting Jupiter joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Varga Bhava Lord. • The transiting transiting Karaka or Jaimini Karaka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Varga Bhava Lord. • The transiting Rasi Bhava lord joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Varga Lagna Lord. • The transiting Karaka or Jaimini Karaka joins, aspects, Rasi aspects or trines the transiting Varga Lagna Lord. Trigger Transits to Rahu and Ketu Rahu and Ketu give the results of their lord, thus transits to them can trigger events relative to the Bhava cusp that Rahu and Ketu join in the Rasi. If Rahu or Ketu is in the Lagna, then planets transiting Rahu and Ketu can trigger events just like they would if they transisted the Lagna lord. Important Transit Factors for each Varga Using transits to predict requires that the correct Bhava, Karaka and Varga be utilized so that the correct transits that give an event can be searched. Being an astrologer means always thinking of just what astrological factors rule some concrete thing. This is necessary for using any type of predictive technique as the astrologer will always encounter new things that they want to study in the horoscope. There is no rule book in existence that provides everything that all the Grahas, Vargas and Bhavas rule and this is something that a skilled astrologers learns how to do on the fly by combining their understanding about the Bhavas, Grahas and Vargas in order to deduce the correct astrological factors for anything that they may want to examine in the chart.

Sri Jagannath Vedic Center, USA Drig dasa August 23, 2002 Ukiah, USA © Robert Koch, 2002 – Published in Jyotish Digest 1 Ascetic Yogas THE PATH OF SELF-REALIZATION Robert Koch Robert Koch was initiated as Sri Patraka Das at the lotus feet of H.H. Sri Srimad A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in March, 1971. He lived in India for 6 years till 1983, studying Jyotish and has received certificate of commendation for spreading Hindu astrology in the USA, from the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, in 1999. Web site: http://www.robertkoch.com n the first Canto of the great Vedic Purana Srimad Bhagavatam, there is a very interesting and instructional conversation that took place between a bull personifying I Dharma, or religion, and Bhumi, the mother earth in the form of a cow. The bull was standing on one leg, suggesting that that one out of four pillars of religious principles (represented by each leg of Dharma, the bull) was still existing, and that in itself was faltering with the progress of Kali-yuga. The four legs of the Dharma are truthfulness, cleanliness, mercy, and austerity. If most or all of these legs of Dharma are broken, or if 3 out of 4 Dharmic principles exist very rarely, in human society, then we can be confident that Kali-yuga – the age of quarrel and darkness – is well upon us. Given that there are some rare souls existing who speak and live the Supreme Absolute Truth, as is found in various Vedic literatures, the remaining leg of truthfulness still exists. Such persons are characterized by complete self-control, or the ability to detach themselves from the relative world of the senses and the objects of sense pleasure.

  • Narcissism, Self-Effacement and Rahu and Ketu a Key to Understanding People by Hank Friedman
Narcissism, Self-Effacement and Rahu and Ketu a key to understanding people by Hank Friedman [Note: For those unfamiliar with Vedic terms, Rahu is the Moon's North Node, and Ketu is the Moon's South Node. Thanks to AstroDatabank for the birth data for the charts in this article.] Ascertaining the positions of the Moon's nodes, Rahu and Ketu, arose from the need to predict eclipses. During a New Moon or Full Moon, if either of the nodes is near the Sun and the Moon, an eclipse occurs. Therefore, the central theme of both nodes is the principle of eclipsing. An eclipse is a momentous event, a major omen, respected from the earliest times as representing a change in the wind, a time of great transition. In the context of Vedic astrology, eclipsing carries the meanings of obscuring, negating, diminishing, paralyzing, and blinding, as well as emphasizing, distorting, amplifying, and exaggerating. Many classical Vedic astrology texts show the meaning of the nodes when in specific houses, e.g. Jataka Parijata (Chapter 8, Shloka 60) states: "When Rahu occupies the Ascendant, the person born will be cruel, without compassion or moral virtue in his nature and suffering from ailments. When Ketu occupies the Ascendant, the person born will be sickly and very avaricious. If the Rahu or Ketu in the Ascendant be aspected by a benefic planet, the person concerned will have princely enjoyments." As the final shloka indicates, the nodes are incredibly mutable chameleons who take on the nature of planets with and aspecting them, as well as the nature of their dispositors (planets that rule the signs that they are in).

  • Using Vargas 1-12 by Ernst Wilhelm
Using Vargas 1-12 By Ernst Wilhelm www.astrology-videos.com Vargas 1-12 are the safest Vargas to use on account of them being less time sensitive than the remaining Vargas (Vargas 16-60). As you have thus far learned, all Vargas influence all areas of life, though each varga is of most importance for one area of life. While all these Vargas interrelate, there are a few stronger interrelationships that the astrologer can use to good advantage: Hora & Chaturthamsa: The Hora is the foundation of the Chaturthamsa just 2 squared equals 4 and as the Moon is the father of Mercury, the two most important planets respectively in these two Vargas. Drekkana & Navamsa: The Drekkana is the foundation of the Navamsa just as 3 squared equals 9. The two most important Grahas in these two Vargas, Mars and Venus, also have a synergetic relationship. Chaturthamsa & Saptamsa: Both the 4th and 7th Bhavas are important in these two Vargas. Then of course the critical Bhavas in each Varga must be carefully examined as per the table: =Remainder Square Root Varga / 12 Reduction Addition Square Varga 1 – Concrete Manifestation that is the Realm of Our Existence 1 – Rasi 1 - 1 1 1 2 – Hora 2 - 3 - 4 3 – Drikkana 3 - 6 - 9 4 – Chaturthamsa 4 - 1 2 7 7 – Saptamsa 7 - 1 - 4 9 – Navamsa 9 - 9 3 9 10 – Dasamsa 10 1 1 - 1 12 – Dvadasamsa 12 3 6 - 9 Thus if one wishes to judge the 3rd Bhava properly, one should pay particular attention to it in the Hora, Drekkana, Navamsa and Dvadasamsa.

What Planet Did You Come From? The Atmakaraka, Your or “Soul” Planet I was watching the TV show, Deception, and noticed that the main character, Joanna Locasto, the undercover cop who was investigating the murder of her best friend, had a luminous, soft, and somewhat round face. Her eyes are large and looked like she was lit , from within her whole being seems to shine. The thought occurred to me that the she looked like MOON. The actor, Meagan Good, plays a cop on the show, so I ed expect that Mars would be prominent in her birth chart too as Mars rules the police. Most actors play themselves in some way or another in most of their roles. Not consciously, of course, but because the universe has innate an order that we all follow whether we know it or not. I found h er birth chart data through Astrotheme.com. I cast her chart and expected to see that Atmakaraka, her soul or “essence” planet is the Moon. Sure enough, there it is, the planet at the highest degree (not counting Pluto, Uranus, or Neptune), is the Moon. Furthermore, it’s in the sign of Scorpio, one of the signs ruled by Mars, AND, aspected by ! Mars In fact, she has a Moon/Mars mutual reception, meaning that the Moon is in a Mars sign and Mars is in the Moon’s Sun sign. She has the in the ascendant (the box with the diagonal line through it) and probably adds to her “shine.” Meagan Good birth chart 8/8/1981 06:00:00 Panorama City, CA Lagna: 12 Leo 58 Mars rules Aries and Scorpio; Aries is the masculine, and Scorpio is the feminine version.
