It is also called "Chudhakaran Sanskara" in Hindi. Like other Sanskaras this Sanskara also has a scientific basis. In this Sanskara the hair of the child are removed for the first time. The objectives of this Sanskara are cleanliness, intelligence and knowledge. It is believed that if this Sanskara is performed precisely, the child will be very intelligent and knowledgeable. He will also be noble and virtuous. Through this Sanskara the child is made familiar with the importance of cleanliness in life. Key to Understand the Report The Muhurtha system of Vedic Jyotish lets one ascertain how auspicious a certain time is for starting important work, and what kind of results can the person expect. Muhurtha has the same basis as Birth Horoscope, the only difference is that the person is replaced by the task or work to be done. The Panchang is then checked for auspiciousness and the good and bad Yogas formed at that moment are also checked. If a certain Muhurtha (moment) has auspicious combinations in the Panchang, and the Yogas formed are also positive then the work done at that moment will have a higher chance of resulting in success. Vedic Jyotish says that when a person chooses a good Muhurtha he gets the best result that he is destined to get. This report uses a scoring system to make it easy to understand the auspiciousness of a Muhurtha. The score is calculated on the basis of the auspicious-inauspicious Yogas, and the status of the Panchang. The higher the score is, the better the Muhurtha is for the purpose. The report will have the best 12 Muhurthas from the time-range you select. It will have the detailed information about these Muhurthas including the Panchang and the Yogas formed. You can select a good Muhurtha from the list according to your preference and convenience. However, if there is no auspicious Muhurtha then you can perform this ceremony in this Muhurutha as it is not totally negative. Tithi Dashmi Shukla The Tithi is auspicious for performing this Sanskara. Its benefic influence will increase his confidence and interest in intellectual activities. Nakshatra Satabhisha This Nakshatra is very auspicious for performing the Mundan Sanskara. V. Subba Rao Visiting Professor, Department of Jyotish Rashtriya Sanskrit University, Tirupati, A.P., India ABSTRACT: Can earthquakes be predicted? So far, the answer is no. Scientists are unlikely to be ever able to predict earthquakes with any amount of certainty, according to the United States Geological Survey Apr 25, 2013. An Innovative Model for Earthquake Prediction (IMEP) proposed in this paper is a combination of Vedic Astrology (Vedānga), Varāha Mihira’s Brihat Samhita and scientific data of magnetic variations, structural geology such as fault zones, tectonic plates’ directions, loose soil areas of all the earthquakes occurred in Indian Peninsula shield over a period of 200 years. In the course of preparation of this paper, it is observed that the earthquakes occured at regular intervals of about 11 years and mostly during bright fortnight due to extraordinary astronomical phenomena occurring in the planets and special movements of the heavenly bodies. Vedānga and Brihat Samhita state that earthquakes are caused by eclipses of the luminaries. It is, therefore, plausible to predict earthquakes in a specific locality within a specific time limit utilising this model. However, as an initial step, the present model has been designed for application for India. The next earthquake in Indian peninsula is predicted to occur on Wednesday, the 16th March, 2016 on the basis of the proposed hypothesis model.

    Narcissism, Self-Effacement and Rahu and Ketu a key to understanding people by Hank Friedman [Note: For those unfamiliar with Vedic terms, Rahu is the Moon's North Node, and Ketu is the Moon's South Node. Thanks to AstroDatabank for the birth data for the charts in this article.] Ascertaining the positions of the Moon's nodes, Rahu and Ketu, arose from the need to predict eclipses. During a New Moon or Full Moon, if either of the nodes is near the Sun and the Moon, an eclipse occurs. Therefore, the central theme of both nodes is the principle of eclipsing. An eclipse is a momentous event, a major omen, respected from the earliest times as representing a change in the wind, a time of great transition. In the context of Vedic astrology, eclipsing carries the meanings of obscuring, negating, diminishing, paralyzing, and blinding, as well as emphasizing, distorting, amplifying, and exaggerating. Many classical Vedic astrology texts show the meaning of the nodes when in specific houses, e.g. Jataka Parijata (Chapter 8, Shloka 60) states: "When Rahu occupies the Ascendant, the person born will be cruel, without compassion or moral virtue in his nature and suffering from ailments. When Ketu occupies the Ascendant, the person born will be sickly and very avaricious. If the Rahu or Ketu in the Ascendant be aspected by a benefic planet, the person concerned will have princely enjoyments." As the final shloka indicates, the nodes are incredibly mutable chameleons who take on the nature of planets with and aspecting them, as well as the nature of their dispositors (planets that rule the signs that they are in).
