Clarington 1 challenged the Sarnia Pacers1 for the Pee Wee B final, and Clarington 2 took the Cornwall Celtics into overtime in search of the Pee Wee C title. The Green Gaels 1 wasted no time taking the lead in the Pee Wee B final, scoring three goals in three minutes. Ethan Matthews responded for the Sarnia Pacers with a goal to end the period, leaving the Green Gaels with a 3-1 lead. The Pacers jumped out first in the second period with a goal from Sebastien Frenette, but Jack Goulding responded for the Green Gaels two minutes later. Ryan Whelpley took the Pacers within one of the leaders in the second period to make the score 4-3. Landen Hookey tied the game for the pacers with a goal early in the third, but the Green Gaels led a strong press for the rest of the period. Goals by Hayes Bell, Shayne Pearsall, and Brooklyn Walker-Welch boosted the Green Gaels ahead by three for a 7-4 championship score. The Clarington Green Gaels 2 and the Cornwall Celtics met in the Pee Wee C final to determine which of the two undefeated teams would become Division C Champions.

The SSL’s Original Five teams will be: Huntsville Hawks (Lesley Reynolds) Lakefield Rage (Derrick Crough) London Blue Devils (Dylan English) Peel Region Tigers (Jeremy Hill) Six Nations Tomahawks (Jay Smith) The establishment of Senior Series Lacrosse is based on the need and desire for players aged 22 years and older to have the opportunity to continue playing box lacrosse as an alternative to the full season schedules of the Ontario Series Lacrosse and Major Series Lacrosse leagues. The league will operate as a full-contact, tournament-only format on weekends throughout June and July. Games will consist of two 20-minute halves with three-minute intermissions; supplementary additions and/or modifications to the CLA playing rules may be determined as necessary. The tournament-only format will be played over three weekends, with a fourth championship weekend once places have been decided. June 29th – 30th in Lakefield, Ontario July 6th – 7th in Alliston, Ontario July 20th – 21st in Huntsville, Ontario August 17th – 18th in Six Nations, Ontario (Championship Weekend) As with all OLA leagues, participating players are required to register with the OLA prior to any team involvement. This ceremony included many of the OLA’s key contributors – staff members, the Board of Directors and Board of Governors, volunteers, organizers, partners, top- spirited players, Hall of Fame Alumni and executives – as well as friends and family of those present. The evening began with cocktails and camaraderie. Master of Ceremonies Mr. Rod Mawhood welcomed everyone and thanked them for their attendance. The Ontario Lacrosse Association’s staff, Board of Directors and Board of Governors were invited to stand and be recognized for their contributions. Hall of Fame Members and Life Members of both the OLA and CLA were also called upon. Following these introductions, Ontario Junior “B” Lacrosse League Commissioner Dave Vernon offered grace. Following dinner, the awards ceremony took place. Five OLA awards and six Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame inductions were presented. HALL OF FAME INDUCTION: Dr. Mark Evans – Brampton – Builder Category (Box, Men’s Field) Mark Evans was nominated in the Builder Category as a dedicated coach, executive member and historian from Brampton. Mark coached high school field lacrosse in the early 1980’s and became the head coach of the Brampton Junior “A” Excelsiors by 1984. By the mid 1990’s, Mark was coaching multiple minor teams, and became the first recipient of the Brampton Minor Lacrosse Association’s Revis Bennett Coach of the Year Award.

The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) has cho- sen 17-year-old Braeden Cryderman to represent Team Canada East at the 2007 Lipton Brisk Canada Cup. Cryderman was the top Eastern Canadian qualifier, win- ning the Ontario qualifier at the South Muskoka Curling and Golf Club in Bracebridge back in June with a two-round total of two over par 146 (77 - 69). The 2007 Lipton Brisk Championships is held this year GREAT EFFORT: The Huntsville Intermediate Hawks show off their medals at the prestigious Glen Abby course in Oakville, Ontario. The tournament, to be held July 31 through Aug. 3, has after finishing second at a tournament in Ottawa this past weekend. The Team Canada East taking on Team Canada West in Ryder Hawks lost 11-4 in the finals to the provincial champions. Cup-style matches. They will play fourball, foursomes and singles matches. The series currently stands at two wins a piece, with the east trying to win for the second year in a row. Intermediates take Cryderman followed his win in Bracebridge with a win at Lake St. George in Orillia firing a one-under 71, qualify- ing him for the Golf Association of Ontario’s junior boys’ championship July 24 to 27 at the Bayview Golf and Coun- silver at Ottawa try Club in Thornhill. Cryderman is also entered in the CJGA’s Mizuno Eastern Canadian Championships this week at Deerhurst Highlands.

The Warriors dominated in the first period, scoring five goals to the Green Gaels’ two. The Green Gaels took control of the game in the second period, logging two goals from Hudson Armstrong and Zach Clarke to come within one point of the Warriors. Trenton Bonneveld tied the game 5-5 early in the third period, and the Green Gaels took the lead with lone goals from Clarke and Ethan Baker. The Warriors failed to produce any goals after the first period of play, and the Green Gaels took the game 7-5. The 1-1-1 Burlington Chiefs 1 took on the 3-0 Orillia Kings 1 in the Tyke B final. Caden Corroll pushed the Kings ahead with two goals in the first period, and Nathan Nedelko brought the Chiefs within one to finish the period 2-1. The kings extended their lead midway through the second period with Corroll’s third goal of the game and a solo shot from Devun Colebrook. Joshua Inness and Samuel Mudie scored one each for the Chiefs with two minutes left, to enter the third period down 4-3.
