Senior Series Lacrosse Announces Original Five Teams Ontario Lacrosse Association 1 Concorde Gate, Suite 200C Toronto, Ontario, M3C 3N6 T: (416) 426-7066 www.ontariolacrosse.com [email protected] SENIOR SERIES LACROSSE ANNOUNCES FIVE TEAMS FOR INAUGURAL SEASON TORONTO, ON – May 31st, 2019 – The Ontario Lacrosse Association’s Senior Series Lacrosse (SSL) has announced its first five teams for its foundational season beginning in 2019. The SSL’s Original Five teams will be: Huntsville Hawks (Lesley Reynolds) Lakefield Rage (Derrick Crough) London Blue Devils (Dylan English) Peel Region Tigers (Jeremy Hill) Six Nations Tomahawks (Jay Smith) The establishment of Senior Series Lacrosse is based on the need and desire for players aged 22 years and older to have the opportunity to continue playing box lacrosse as an alternative to the full season schedules of the Ontario Series Lacrosse and Major Series Lacrosse leagues. The league will operate as a full-contact, tournament-only format on weekends throughout June and July. Games will consist of two 20-minute halves with three-minute intermissions; supplementary additions and/or modifications to the CLA playing rules may be determined as necessary. The tournament-only format will be played over three weekends, with a fourth championship weekend once places have been decided. June 29th – 30th in Lakefield, Ontario July 6th – 7th in Alliston, Ontario July 20th – 21st in Huntsville, Ontario August 17th – 18th in Six Nations, Ontario (Championship Weekend) As with all OLA leagues, participating players are required to register with the OLA prior to any team involvement. New, returning or tryout players must register for Senior Series Lacrosse here. Detailed registration instructions can be found here. For questions or additional information about Senior Series Lacrosse, league commissioner Shelly Nobile can be reached at [email protected]. About the Ontario Lacrosse Association: Since 1897, the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) has been recognized as the administrative governing body which exists to improve, foster, perpetuate and govern of all levels (youth, junior and senior) and disciplines (box, field and women's field) of lacrosse in the province of Ontario.
