The Peterborough Lakers proved to be a challenge, having already defeated the Warriors 2-1 in round robin play. The Lakers struck first with a goal from Sierra Young in the first period. The second period remained scoreless, and the Lakers eXtended their lead by one with a goal from Victoria Clark in the third. Sarah Lyons broke through the Lakers defense to put the Warriors on the board, but Chelsea Campbell came through for the Lakers to end the game 3-1. The Kitchener-Waterloo Braves also returned to the Girl’s Bantam B final this year, after a 3-1 loss to the London Blue Devils in 2014. AleXis Barber scored first for the Simcoe Timberwolves, but AleXis Schneider shot back quickly for the Braves to end the period in a 1-1 tie. The tie held through the second period, and the Timberwolves shut down the Braves in the third. Mackenzie Manuliak logged two more goals to eXtend the lead 3-1, and the Timberwolves took the Girl’s Bantam B Championship title. MIDGET- The Kingston Krossfire and Gloucester Griffins met for the second time at the 2015 Ontario Lacrosse Festival in the Girl’s Midget A final. Their first match in the round robin saw the Griffins come out on top in a 3-1 victory. The championship game remained scoreless in the first period, with Holly Reis putting the Griffins ahead by one goal in the second. The Krossfire fought back quickly, logging two goals from Rachel Brayton and Clare Johnston to take a 2-1 lead. Sierra Beaudin scored the only goal of the third period to tie the game 2-2 and send the teams into overtime. Brayton and Johnston pushed the Krossfire ahead with two quick goals in overtime, and the Griffins only produced one. The Krossfire took the Girl’s Midget A title with a 4-3 win over the Gloucester Griffins. The SiX Nations Warriors and the Akwesasne Storm fought through a close game to determine who would walk away with the Girl’s Midget B title. Brynn Koocher opened the scoring for the Warriors with two goals, followed by one from Lauryn Hill. The Storm followed closely behind the Warriors, logging two goals from Trysten Burns and Trinity Thompson. The teams eXchanged goals in the second period to enter the third with the Warriors leading the Storm 4-3. Koocher scored her third of the game for the Warriors, and Tatyana Papineau scored for the storm to keep a one-point deficit between the teams. The Warriors eXtended their lead with Mackenzie Bomberry’s second goal of the game, and Burns responded for the Storm with four seconds left to play. The Storm were unable to take the lead with such little time left, and the Warriors took the Girl’s Midget B title in a close 6-5 final. The Girl’s Midget C final was played between the Nepean Knights and the Brampton EXcelsiors. Kayle Osborne was dominant for the Knights, scoring all of their goals throughout the game. Osborne began in the first, scoring the period’s only goal to put the Knights ahead 1-0. She continued her dominance early in the second period to take a 2-0 lead, but Hayley Pimentel shot back for the Excelsiors to close the lead 2-1. The EXcelsiors briefly tied the game 2-2 in the third period, but Osborne came back seconds later to extend the Knights lead again. She solidified their win with a final goal assisted by Hunter Gibbons. The Knights took the Girl’s Midget C title with a 4-2 win over the Excelsiors. INTERMEDIATE- The Whitby Warriors attempted to win the Intermediate A Provincial Championship for the third year in a row, taking on the 2-1 Centre-Wellington Mohawks. The Warriors looked strong in the first, taking a 2-1 lead with goals from Nicole Kernohan and Rachael McKinnon. AleX White eXtended the Warriors lead early in the second period, and Taryn Collins tied the game 3-3 with two goals for the Mohawks. The Mohawks were shut out of the third period, however, as the Warriors edged out the lead with a goal from Lauren White. The Warriors defended their Girl’s Intermediate A title for the third year in a row, defeating the Mohawks 4-3 in the final match. The undefeated Arthur Aces took on the 2-1 Orillia Kings in the Girl’s Intermediate B final. Despite serving 11 more penalty minutes than the Kings, the Aces proved to be the more dominant of the two. They shut the Kings out of any scoring opportunities, taking the game in a 3-0 final. Shelby Vandenbosch and Becca Hostrawser scored one goal each in the first period, and Hostrawser scored her second with 23 seconds left in the third. The Arthur Aces came out victorious, taking the Girl’s Intermediate B title with a game shutout. The Girl’s Intermediate C final took place between the Kingston Krossfire and the London Blue Devils. The Krossfire went undefeated in round robin play, while the Blue Devils only loss came at the hands of Kingston in a 4-3 nail-biter. The teams proved to be evenly matched in the final, keeping each other off the scoreboard for the last two periods of play. The only goal of the game came from Raven Tabobandung to put the Krossfire ahead 1-0 in the first period. The rest of the match was a stalemate of defense, and the Krossfire took the Girl’s Intermediate C title 1-0. -30- FOR MORE INFORMATION: Taylor Craig Festival Event Communications Ontario Lacrosse Festival [email protected] .

  • Play June 2021
WELCOME BACK TO IT'S GREAT TO SEE YOU AGAIN 1 | 12 a message from ONTARIO LACROSSE about this Return to Play Guide The Ontario Lacrosse Association is proud to be a leading lacrosse community both at home in Canada and throughout the world where our members can enjoy, value and celebrate the benefits of active participation and excellence in women’s field lacrosse, minor & men’s field lacrosse and box lacrosse. Since 1994, lacrosse has been declared Canada’s Official Summer Sport. It is a fundamental part of our heritage, and we look forward to being together again to play, coach, officiate and watch this great game. In January of 2020, the Province of Ontario identified the first recorded case of COVID-19 in Canada. Since that time, the world we knew changed drastically. The OLA’s Board of Directors and Return to Activity Task Force members carefully examined available resources to eventually navigate the process for and possibility of returning to play, while remaining committed to our foundation of prioritizing the health, safety and wellbeing of the Ontario Lacrosse community. As the final installment of our Return to Activity series, this Game On! Guide lays out the general requirements to create a safe environment to protect our sanctioned members at all levels and disciplines of play. We recognize that players, coaches, officials, team support staff and administrators will all need to make adjustments as we transition back to play in the middle of our traditional lacrosse season, and our path will be guided by common sense and flexibility throughout the 2021 season.
