CLARINGTON GREEN GAELS DEFEAT THREE-TIME DEFENDING CHAMPIONS IN TYKE FINALS

The Whitby Warriors 1 looked to defend their Tyke A Provincial title for a fourth year in a row, taking on the 1 in the championship match. The Warriors dominated in the first period, scoring five goals to the Green Gaels’ two. The Green Gaels took control of the game in the second period, logging two goals from Hudson Armstrong and Zach Clarke to come within one point of the Warriors. Trenton Bonneveld tied the game 5-5 early in the third period, and the Green Gaels took the lead with lone goals from Clarke and Ethan Baker. The Warriors failed to produce any goals after the first period of play, and the Green Gaels took the game 7-5.

The 1-1-1 1 took on the 3-0 1 in the Tyke B final. Caden Corroll pushed the Kings ahead with two goals in the first period, and Nathan Nedelko brought the Chiefs within one to finish the period 2-1. The kings extended their lead midway through the second period with Corroll’s third goal of the game and a solo shot from Devun Colebrook. Joshua Inness and Samuel Mudie scored one each for the Chiefs with two minutes left, to enter the third period down 4-3. Though Inness logged another goal for the Chiefs, it would be their last. Colebrook shot two more goals past the Chiefs crease, and the Kings slid into victory with a 6-4 win.

The took flight in the Tyke C final, winning the championship title 10-4 over the Akwesasne Storm 1. Huntsville opened the scoring early in the first period with two goals from Tate Collins and one from Tyson Buttus, giving them a 3- 1 lead. The Hawks came out even stronger in the second period, scoring five goals to the Storm’s two. The action died down in the third period, as Hunter Thompson made the first mark with the Storm’s fourth goal of the game. The damage could not be undone, however, as the Hawks scored two more goals to take the championship title 10-4.

The Tyke D final was similarly dominated by the 2, who scored 10 of their 11 goals unassisted against the Arthur Aces. The first period remained a close game, with the Bulldogs leading the Aces 4-3. The Bulldogs launched ahead in the second period with Cameron Hunchak scoring his third goal of the game, and Tylar Fairhead, Matt Harnden, Kostas George, and Cole Wilkes logging one each. Ethan McDougall and Evan McDougall brought the Aces two goals, but the Bulldogs still had a 9-5 lead at the end of the second period. Fairhead began the third period with his third goal of the game, followed by a goal from Trey Taylor. The Bulldogs shut down any scoring opportunity for the Aces, taking the Tyke D Championship with an 11-5 victory.

The 2 and Windsor Warlocks displayed heroics late in the game in order to win the Tyke E Provincial Championship title. The Warlocks shut the Regals out of the first period, going ahead by one with a goal from Keegan Gillen. Positions shifted in the second period as the Regals shut the Warlocks out of any scoring possibilities, tying the game 1-1 with a goal from Matthew Southern. Nick Brady catapulted the Regals forward in the third period with two goals, and Dalton Snow inched them ahead 4-1 with a goal of his own. Gillen logged his second of the game for the Warlocks with four minutes left, but the damage was done. The Regals ended the game with a 4-2 lead for the Tyke E Championship title.
