Pavlova aSchmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, 123242 Russia *e-mail: [email protected] Received December 29, 2017; revised May 23, 2018; accepted May 28, 2018 Abstract—Paleomagnetic results from numerous Early–Middle Devonian volcanic sequences of the Minusa trough, southern Siberia, are presented. The analysis of these data definitely indicates that the geomagnetic field in the Devonian had a specific character, different from both the present field and the field of more ancient geological epochs, and was extremely variable (hyperactive). The anomalies in the paleomagnetic record of the Early–Middle Devonian are not local, peculiar to a particular region, but have a global occurrence. The synthesis of the obtained results with the paleomagnetic data from the coeval volcanics from Scotland shows that during a relatively short time (10–20 Ma), the geomagnetic pole repeatedly changed its location, significantly deviating from the Earth’s rotation axis up to the (paleo)equator and assuming some quasi-stable positions. DiSalvo, P.Owston, and S.Wu ABSTRACT Developing effective forest management brings universal challenges to all countries, regardless of political system or economic state. The Russian Federation is an example of how economic, social, and political issues impact development and enactment of forest legislation. The current Forest Code of the Russian Federation (1997) has many problems and does not provide for needed progress in the forestry sector. It is necessary to integrate economic, ecological and social forestry needs, and this is not taken into account in the Forest Code. Additionally, excessive centralization in forest management and the forestry economy occurs. This manuscript discusses the problems facing the forestry sector of Siberia and recommends solutions for some of the major ones. How to use the Atlas The Atlas has two map sections The Main Section shows the location of Russia’s intact forest landscapes. The Thematic Section shows their tree species composition in two different ways. The legend is placed at the beginning of each set of maps. If you are looking for an area near a town or village Go to the Index on page 153 and find the alphabetical list of settlements by English name. The Cyrillic name is also given along with the map page number and coordinates (latitude and longitude) where it can be found. Capitals of regions and districts (raiony) are listed along with many other settlements, but only in the vicinity of intact forest landscapes. The reader should not expect to see a city like Moscow listed. Villages that are insufficiently known or very small are not listed and appear on the map only as nameless dots. If you are looking for an administrative region Go to the Index on page 185 and find the list of administrative regions. The numbers refer to the map on the inside back cover. Having found the region on this map, the reader will know which index map to use to search further. If you are looking for the big picture Go to the overview map on page 35. This map shows all of Russia’s Intact Forest Landscapes, along with the borders and Roman numerals of the five index maps. If you are looking for a certain part of Russia Find the appropriate index map. These show the borders of the detailed maps for different parts of the country. -

Keusch Siberian Federal University 79 Svobodny, Krasnoyarsk, 660041 Russia 1 Received 4.05.2011, received in revised form 11.05.2011, accepted 18.05.2011 The authors of the article have carried out a research of the innovative potential of typical administrative-territorial units. For our research, we have chosen some administrative-territorial units of different socio- economical levels of development that are situated in various climatic zones of the Krasnoyarsk Region: the Evenkiya Municipal Region; Minusinsk and the Minusinsk Municipal Region; Achinsk; Divnogorsk; Zheleznogorsk. In order to research the innovative potential of the chosen territories, we have chosen to use the modified TACIS methodology in the given work. The methodology is based upon carriage of working seminars with specialists of the subject, their questioning in a certain sphere and formation of a general indicator (maturity profile) and a certain scheme of analysis of the gained results. Maturity profile estimates the level of administrative-territorial units development in various aspects on the basis of selected factors, which define the development of the territory. Proceeding from the set task, the following eight factors have been defined: four of them characterize the resources and four rest characterize organizational structures and technologies. Its results are presented as a diagram, which visually illustrates relative levels of various activity spheres’ development. The form of the diagram also gives us an opportunity to compare the correlation between the levels of factors development of a separate territory and other administrative-territorial units. -

You will pass the historical town part with its monuments of the 18th-19th centuries, the former mansions of Siberian merchants and patrons, you will see the monument to Krasnoyarsk founder Andrey Dubensky, the Annunciation Cathedral, the Theatre Square, etc. We are going to visit the Ethnographical Museum which is considered to be among the best historical and ethnographical museums in Siberia. The next point of the excursion is the park Bobrovy log. In the park you will have a chance to discover a beautiful view on the nature reserve Stolby (Takmak rock) going uphill by the ropeway to an observation point overlooking the magnificent views of the city and surroundings. This tour is a wonderful opportunity to plunge into the wild nature without leaving the city. Transfer to the pier. 19:00 boarding the passenger ship Kuprian. The authors of this work focused on the impact of anthropogenic factors on river runoff. Many rivers of Siberian taiga drain areas have experienced a dramatic land-cover change, with a decrease in overall forest area and a relative increase in deciduous trees. Land cover change in forest catchments impact water balance and accordingly, river flow. The study areas, the West Sayan and Northern Angara regions located in Central Siberia, are now a mosaic of forest regeneration sites including both post-human and post-fire regeneration patterns. Data of our own hydrological experiments conducted on clear cuts of different ages and reference materials for regular hydrological observations were analyzed. Dynamics of river flow under influence of timber harvesting were studied for 11 river basins in different landscape zones of Siberia. The studies showed that, in Siberia, forest cover changes lead to either reduction of, or increase in water yield depending on forest structure and climate. -

MEADE US Geological Survey, MS 413, Box 25046, Denver, Colorado 80225, USA Abstract The northward-flowing rivers of Siberia deliver immense quantities of water but only relatively small quantities of sediment to the Arctic Ocean. The relatively low delivery of sediment to the ocean by these rivers is explained by the large areas of forest and swamp in their basins. In the Ob’ River, sediment yields tend to increase between the headwaters and Kamen’ na Obi. Further downstream, sediment yields gradually decrease. Near the mouth of the Ob’ River, at Salekhard, sedi ment yield has remained constant at about 5.3 t km-2 year'1. In the lower Yenisey River, the already small natural sediment yield of 5.41 km'2 year'1 has been decreased several fold by the construction of massive reservoirs on the main stem and on the tributary Angara River, and presently equals 1.8 t km'2 year"1. INTRODUCTION Intensive collection of sediment data in the rivers of the Soviet Union (including Siberia) began during 1935-1938. The stations where sediment discharge is measured presently number about 240 in the Ob’ River basin and about 220 in the Yenisey River basin. The rivers are divisible into three parts: the upper reaches where suspended sediment is mobilized; the middle reaches where sediment is transported, deposited, and re mobilized downstream; and the lower reaches where sediment accumulates (Polyakov, 1935; Lopatin, 1939; 1952; Shamov, 1954). -

This research aims statistic data-based measurement of quantitative indicators which determine interrelation between the process of urbanization and dimensions for economic, innovative- technological and socio-cultural development of the regions with resource economy. In the framework of system analysis urbanized territories are considered as multi-component complex systems. Today’s tendencies in the practice of forecasting, planning and monitoring urbanized territories are focused on tackling a multi-criteria and multi-dimensional problem with a complicated system of constraints which is, traditionally, not judgment-based. This paper observes takes on modeling interrelation between the factors of socio-economic development and the level of urbanization in municipal settlements in the resource region – Krasnoyarskiy Krai – and on integrated ranking of urbanized territories based on dynamic changes of these factors.
