Older people are encouraged to join in events during NT Seniors Month that focus on healthy lifestyles, learning new skills, connecting with communities and experi- encing adventure. This year’s local activities started out with two sessions at Tennant Creek Library, where seniors tried out paint pouring and macramé under the guidance of Librarian Kylie Rose. On Wednesday morning they created serv- ing paddles, which were sealed on Thursday before knotting up a pretty little macramé planter to take home. “Seniors Month is the perfect time to thank ageing and older Territorians for the impor- tant mark they leave on so many people’s lives, including the role they play in support- ing their families,” said Minister for Seniors Lauren Moss. “Our seniors are valued members of com- munities in urban, regional and remote areas Centre will be scrapbooking, and there are and Seniors Month is an important time to plenty more sessions to follow throughout NEW SKILLS: Lee Perkins was impressed with her celebrate the contributions they make, their the month with a variety of different skills. creation.
