Getting to know shrines and their visual motifs features is leaded to know Typology, in Typology, Denotation and Connotation are the concept of truth. This research is based on descriptive and analytical nature and the collection of the data is in a mixture way. Sampling is in the form of non-random (optional) and there are 4 samples of geometric motifs of Damavand city of Tehran province and the analysis of information is qualitatively too. In this research after study of geometric designs used in this city shrines, the amount of this motifs confusion are known by semiotic concepts and denotation and connotation meaning is stated as well. At first the basic articles related to typology and geometric motifs are discussed. Discovering the meaning of these motifs requires a necessary deep study about geometric motifs treasury of believe and religious roots and symbolic meaning of this motifs. Geometric patterns with the centrality of the circle In drawing, the incidence abstractly and creating new combination is based on uniformly covering surfaces in order not to attract attention to designs independently creating an empty space also recalls “the principle of unity in diversity” and “diversity in unity”.

In this paper an attempt has been made to study the translation of two Iran tourist guidebooks translated by Oksana Beheshti and Amir Hassan Hakimian from Persian into English in order to analyze the strategies the translators have employed for translating CSIs based on Newmark’s model and then to explore whether most these CSIs are domesticated or foreignized. For this purpose a number of instances which are highly specific cultural references have been collected and the strategies applied by translators have been identified. According to the obtained results, the most abundant strategies used in the translation of these two corpses are Newmark’s transference with the addition of some notes. Therefore, although both domesticating and foreignizing strategies have been used, the most common strategy in the translation of these two tourist guidebooks is foreignization. Index Terms—culture, culture-specific items (CSIs), domestication and foreignization, tourist guidebooks, translation strategies I. INTRODUCTION By knowing the languages alone it is not possible to guarantee the success of translations.

They are worn out and have lost their functionality, which has reduced the level of communication between the residents. Hamadan neighborhoods in the Qajar period have been identified and evolved in two forms: linear, field, mosque, lawn, bath, caravansera, Imamzadeh, Sardabeh, Cheshmeh, etc. The center of the neighborhood was the heart of the neighborhood. Shops built around it. Keywords: Neighborhoods, Traditional Neighborhoods, Hamadan Neighborhoods, Space Organization.

The origins of the shrine cults are outlined, the similarities between traditional Muslim and Christian attitudes to shrines are emphasized and the functions of the shrine and the mosque are contrasted. Iranian and Afghan shrines are classified, firstly in terms of the objects which form their principal attrac tions and the saints associated with them, and secondly in terms of the distances over which they attract pilgrims. The administration and endowments of shrines are described and the relationship between shrines and secular authorities analysed.

ANABASIS 8 (201 7) S TUDIA CLAS S ICA E T O RIENTALIA Alireza Askari Chaverdi (Shiraz University, Iran) FLUTED CONICAL PEDESTALS FOR ALTARS FROM THE PERSIAN GULF COAST: BARDESTAN Keywords: Bardestan, altars, Persian Gulf, conical pedestals Introduction As a fountainhead of ancient Iranian empires, in particular during the Achae- menid and Sasanian periods, ancient Fars (Persis) with its Persian Gulf coast is of paramount importance if we are to understand ancient Iranian culture. Multiple historical sources speak of religious rituals particularly as regards fire veneration, alluding especially to the presence in Fars of fire temples of utmost importance, such as the one hosting the fire of Zoroastrian priests. A series of chahartaqs have also been discovered here in archaeological surveys and excavations of the region, which represent major fire temples of Sasanian and early Islamic dates.1 The author’s recent fieldwork recorded several fire sanctuaries and stone fire altars across Fars and the Persian Gulf hinterland.2 In the present paper, two stone pedestals from the Persian Gulf coast in various state of preservation are presented, pertaining to the Zoroastrian devotional rituals. Both pedestals seem to belong to the hourglass-shaped type bearing fluted floral decoration known from inland Fars. 1 Azarnoush 1984, 167-200; 1989, 651-682; Vanden Berghe 2000, 19-20; Mostafavi 2002, 104- 107; 2003, 249-259; Askari Chaverdi and Kaim 2013, 317-324. 2 Askari Chaverdi 2006, 2010, 2011, 2013; Askari Chaverdi and Azarnoush 2004. 260 ALIREZA ASKARI CHAVERDI The finds Bagh-e Morteza Ali, Bardestan The archaeological site of Bagh-e Morteza Ali (Garden of Morteza Ali) lies in the Bardestan port of southern Bushehr Province (Fig.

E-mail: [email protected] Received: January 28, 2018 Accepted: March 8, 2018 Online Published: March 28, 2018 doi:10.5539/jpl.v11n2p6 URL: https://doi.org/10.5539/jpl.v11n2p6 Abstract The Qozloq Route was one of the branches of the famous Silk Road in the northeast of Iran, which linked two important and strategic regions of Shahrud and Astrabad. This road constituted rough and smooth paths and was the passage of different nations with different goals. In this context, various cultures have also been published and exchanged in line with the trade of various goods. The presence of different caravansaries around the road indicates its importance and prosperity in the Safavid course, but with all of this, there is little information available on the importance of this route in the existing travel books and historical books. Despite all the inadequacies, in this research, with the descriptive-analytical approach based on the research data, it is concluded that the Qozloq Route has been of great importance in the Safavid course, strategically, and in term of the publication of the culture and prosperity of the economy, and the dynamism of development and awareness.
