5th WEEK OF THE ITALIAN CUISINE IN THE WORLD "Culture and flavours of 200 years after Pellegrino Artusi's birth"

Showcasing Italy and the Italian taste in the world, the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World is a yearly initiative developed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation to promote Italian culinary traditions as a distinctive trait of Italian identity and culture. This edition is dedicated to Pellegrino Artusi, an Italian businessman and writer, best known as the author of the cookbook “La scienza in cucina e l'arte di mangiar bene” (Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well).

The Mediterranean Diet pattern is a case study for a sustainable and healthy nutrition. In the presence of H.E. the Minister of Health, Dr Osama Ahmed Abdelrahim, this webinar aims at spreading the benefits of this model to the Sudanese audience, covering as well the contribution of the Italian cooperation to food security in the country.

"Pane e Tulipani" is a 2000 film directed by . In the movie, the star is Licia Maglietta as Rosalba, a middle-aged housewife who finds herself stranded during a family vacation. Instead of waiting for her controlling husband, who is in no hurry for her return, she decides to continue her vacation on her own, detouring to and starting a new life.

“Food, the Recipe for Dialogue: the work of Pellegrino Artusi and The Sudanese Kitchen” (Zoom Webinar)

On the bicentenary of the birth of Pellegrino Artusi, author of the first book on the cooking heritage of many Italian regions, a representative of Casa Artusi Foundation will have a dialogue with the Sudanese cook Omer Tigani, creator of the website “The Sudanese Kitchen” on how to write a national cookbook and preserve local culinary traditions.

 All the week long Video tutorial "Italian Pizza in Sudan" (Social media accounts of Italy in Sudan and AICS)

Organized in partnership with AICS (the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation), the tutorial will show how to prepare pizza with sorghum as basic ingredient following the national policy aimed at progressively reducing the import of wheat, in favor of local agricultural products. The video will be promoted on the main social media of the Embassy and AICS during the all week.

TV show "The cook's trial: Italian dishes in Sudan". (in collaboration with DAL)

A cooking competition using locally sourced ingredients to create three Italian dishes in the Sudanese context, where six well known Sudanese food bloggers will compete for a final prize awarded by a panel of judges. The show will create a full immersive cultural cooking experience and introduce Italian food to the Sudanese audience.
