Capitolo Primo: IL PAESAGGIO nel cinema di Carlo Mazzacurati L’ESTATE DI DAVIDE Il paesaggio penetra in sordina nel film, quasi timido e restio: un uscio socchiuso, una finestra chiusa; lo sguardo del protagonista rivolto altrove ci rimanda alla leopardiana immagine dell’Infinito, quella siepe che ostacola la contemplazione del paesaggio è la finestra da cui Davide guarda l’esterno. Ecco i primi istanti del racconto di una giovane vita, una storia che potrebbe essere di uno di noi nella sua immediata semplicità. Se nel film gli esterni si affacciano in punta di piedi, gli interni irrompono chiassosi scaraventando lo spettatore nella realtà della vita quotidiana. Quello che avrebbe dovuto essere il “nido” non lo è, quell’esterno timido si preannuncia, invece, consolatorio e anonimo. Consolatorio perché partecipe silenzioso della delicatezza femminile con cui Davide abbraccia suo nipote; anonimo in quanto il paesaggio ha i contorni sbiaditi di una città che non si riconosce. La Torino in cui si apre il racconto è ripresa attraverso tre fugaci indicatori spaziali: l’esterno sera, il corridoio di un liceo, ove Davide si appresta a vedere i risultati della sua “maturità”, e l’autolavaggio, dove egli lavora saltuariamente riuscendo a mettere da parte un po’ di soldi che gli permetteranno di partire per una vacanza. Ognuno di questi tre spazi è catturato dalla macchina da presa in forma limitata e circoscritta, eppure rivelatrice, attraverso le 1 immagini, degli aspetti più importanti del personaggio; ci segnalano dove vive Davide, quanti anni ha e qual è la sua occupazione; le immagini, quindi, parlano e comunicano, è chiaro l’intento di Mazzacurati di prediligere l’osservazione rispetto alla narrazione. -
