In today’s environment of mobile, financial and human capital, the focus of economic competition is increasingly on city regions. This trend is particularly significant for an open economy such as Ireland which is competing in a global market for investment and talent. In 2014 Limerick City Council and Limerick County Council amalgamated into one body - Limerick City & County Council. As outlined in the Limerick 2030 Vision: An Economic and Spatial Plan for Limerick report, the objective of this merger was to extend the city boundary to include urbanised parts of the county and was seen as a ‘once in a generation opportunity’ to drive new levels of employment and economic growth. In May 2017 Limerick City & County Council (LC&CC) appointed EY-DKM Economic Advisory Services (formerly DKM Economic Consultants) with MCJ Lemagnen Associates Ltd. (MCJ Lemagnen) to undertake an Economic Profile report of Limerick city (including suburbs as defined by the CSO) and county. -

Like Alice through the Looking Glass, the work invites the spectator to step through the frame into that imaginary space behind the painting. It makes a bridge between old media - painting and sculpture - and new media - computers, video and digital printing. -

Planning, Land Use, and Transportation Strategy Major and Agency Supported Employment in the Region The following sections provide information on the employment data used in the development of the MWASP Planning, Land Use and Transportation Strategy. In particular, it focuses on the major employment areas within the region and assesses these areas in terms of key features and infrastructure, agency supported employment, public sector employment and other employment. Major Employment Areas Table 1.1 below highlights the numbers employed in the major employment areas (areas with over 1,500 employees) in the Mid West Region. There are also a number of other key employment areas in the region that have over 500 employees but less than 1,500 employees. They have been grouped together under ‘ key employment clusters’ for the purposes of Table . The last available figures for the numbers employed per area are CSO (POWCAR) 2006 figures. The Physical Programme is at this stage indicative only and very much a ‘work in progress’. The details of the various projects proposed will need to be flexible and in a position to respond to the changes that occur within the fluid environment which they operate. From a land-use and planning perspective, matters are changing on a regular basis, for example the Regional Planning Guidelines are due for review shortly as are some of the relevant local authority Delmege Estate Development Plans. In addition the changing economic and social circumstances of the country may have some implications for population growth and development options which may in turn impact on the approaches taken with regard to Regional Development. Therefore as we move forward this Regeneration Programme must continue to complement the strategies and different elements of the various National, Regional and local levels as outlined in table 1 (page 19). 5.1.1.1 Introduction Moyross Chapter 3 set out the Social Regeneration element of this programme and Chapter 4 has dealt with the economic proposals to underpin these. This Physical Programme deals with the buildings, spaces and environment in which these programmes will be grounded and on which they depend to achieve the transformation of Moyross. -
