Intermat 9 Amateur Wrestling News 9 Song had spent three years as the strength and conditioning coach for the University of Iowa wrestling team. During Song’s tenure, Iowa has Perry-197 crowned four NCAA champions, 19 All-Americans, six Big Ten champions Intermat 16 and 15 academic all-Big Ten honorees. The Hawkeyes won the 2010 Amateur Wrestling News 13 NCAA and Big Ten tournament titles, while earning Big Ten regular sea- son crowns in 2010 and 2011. Song was a three-year NCAA qualifier and starter at 141 and 149 pounds for the Merchant Marine Academy from 2004-2006. He posted an 81-20 career record, placing at the 2006 Division III NCAA Championships. A native of Hauppauge, N.Y., Song earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in 2008.

JUSTIN GRANT NOTES-285 FIRST NCAA APPEARANCE

Grant 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials Qualifier Justin Grant qualified for the 2012 Olympics Wrestling Trials. Grant finished second in his freestyle weight class at the U.S. Olympic Qualifying Trial in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Grant reached the final at 120 kg/264.5 pounds, falling to former Division III national champion John Helgerson of Wartburg College 2-1, 1-2, 1-0.

Grant Pins Way to PSAC Title Justin Grant won two of three matches by fall on his way to the PSAC title. Grant opened his day with a pin in just 20 seconds over his opponent from Millersville, then ended the tourney with a pin in 3:22 over his Kutztown opponent.

Tournament Placings Grant on the PSAC and Brute Invitational Titles in December and was second at the EWL Championships. In the Brute Invitational Grant won the title with a first period pin.

Grant Against NCAA-Qualifiers Grant has faced nine NCAA-qualifiers this season and has record of 7-5 in those matches. He is 2-0 against both Jacob Kettler of George Mason and Ernest James of Edinboro.

2010-11: Wrestled at Kutztown University... Grant had an outstanding sophomore season and was one of seven Golden Bears with digit wins. Grant finished third on the team with 22 wins at heavyweight...He placed fourth at the East Stroudsburg open and sixth at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals. Grant had four falls with is fastest coming in two minutes, 30 seconds....He also had two major decisions....KU won double digit matches for the fifth consecutive season.

2009-10: Wrestled at Kutztown University...Grant finished with a 6-7 record wrestling at heavyweight, including 3-3 in dual meets...He began his career with a 3-2 mark at the Washington and Jefferson Open...Grant recorded his only fall of the season in 6:47 in the Golden Bears win over American International...He also won by fall in 6:05 in an exhibition match against Muhlenberg that did not count toward his record.
