Team Coach W/L Best Players/Highlights Report Year 5/6 BLUE Mr Rocco Canino SIC 4/119 DEFEATED Liam M 13* On a hard wicket surface which we knew what to expect, it was great to see the Blackfriars 7/66 Henry F 13* confident approach we displayed towards our this week. Each player played with George S 11* sheer confidence and intent whilst being able to freely score and string together Harry H 11* & 3/5 partnerships. It was awesome to witness the sportsmanship of our players with how they One wicket each to Seth, addressed a few unique situations where we chose to be gracious and encouraging Joey, William and Joseph towards Blackfriars players. Harry Hodges found himself on a Hat-trick (Not for the first time as an Ignatian) following his Hat-trick last year and although he didn’t claim his second, he went on to claim 3/5 off his 2 overs. A superb individual effort to highlight a sensational team effort by all contributing to the result. Thank you to Patrick Greene and Julien Serocki for their assistance with the scoring and special mention to Roshan Abraham who came out to support the team despite not being able to play through injury! Year 4 RED Patrick Greene SIC 5/79 DEFEATED St Lachlan & Luke Year 4 RED had a great outing at St Michaels and notched up their first win of the season Modified Cricket Michaels 68 on Friday with an 11- win. Lachlan top scored with 13 runs and was ably assisted by Joe (11), Gianni (9), Luke (10). Lachlan and Luke also took a wicket each. The whole team played well this week with some great communication, good backing up in the field and a very positive attitude throughout the . Well done! Year 4 BLUE Mr Rocco Canino SIC 6/85 DEFEATED Xavier A 14* What was most pleasing from this performance, was the special consideration and Modified Cricket Westminster 5/40 Seb C 9* and 2/0 graciousness shown by our players to Westminster who were actually a Year 3 team. We Nick D 8* discussed pre game the importance of how we as Ignatians would like the opposition to Lachlan B 1/1 view us as a respectful opposition College and the importance surrounding the inclusion Harry B 1/7 of others in Sport and not focussing on winning/losing etc. this was taken on by the players in a huge way as Ignatius were proud in encouraging the Westminster players and being gracious when claiming wickets etc. I actually received an email from a Westminster parent following this match, commending our players on how much this match meant to Westminster and how well our players represented our school. Thank you to all the parents for their ongoing support! Year 3 KANGA Nick Anderson/Simon SIC 1/79 Best batting Eli R, Eli A, An excellent effort by the entire team with the ball too. The fielding and catching from Butler (129) DEFEATED Billy, Jonathon each player was exceptional and this was led by Florence with her amazing stop & direct Magill 10/29 (34). run-out and Billy’s incredible catching. Our bowling was very consistent again, and Gabe, in particular showed the way Year 2 Red Justin McCarthy SIC 63 runs DEFEATED Some great fielding and The kids are starting to play well together as a team. Year 2 Blue Daniel Eddington SIC 5-54 (84) (In no particular order) 2 Blue had a very good win on Saturday, by far the most consistent game of the year to KANGA DEFEATED CBC 6-19 Sukti Patel 8 runs and 2 date. This week the bowling standard of the entire team was greatly improved with (44) wickets special to mention to Sukti and Ashton. The fielding by all players was also excellent with Thomas Mazur 15 runs 1 great teamwork and concentration being shown all morning. Isabelle and Phoebe teamed up for a 2 Sets 16 games to 4 Isabelle/Phoebe 6 - 2 fantastic doubles game, proving far too strong for their opponents. Marla and Lily’s Sets 21 game score did not show the closeness of their games and long rallies. All girls’ were SINGLES quite strong in their singles games, however, special mention must go to Lily Whiteman’s Marla 1 - 4 brilliant singles game defeat again. Lily’s serving has been more consistent each week Olivia 2 -4 and her unwavering determination to run each point down and win the rally is Phoebe 2 -4 inspirational. Well done Lily. Congratulations must also go to Olivia for making it to the Lily 4 - 1 SAPSASA try outs, and also to Marla who has made it through to the final trial next week. However, all girls’ BLUE Tennis Seymour 1 set 15 Ailish/ Gigi 4 - 6 tried their best and played with great determination and skill. Both doubles games were games to 5 sets 26 Millie/ Grace 4 - 6 close, having some long rallies and ‘sudden death’ plays. Grace McCarthy had a fantastic games win in her singles, demonstrating some lovely winning forehand shots. Panae, Gigi and SINGLES Ailish were all very competitive in their singles matches, with the results not really Panae 2 -4 showing the closeness of these games. Well done girls’.
