Moving on to Secondary Education 2021 Advice and guidance on the offer process – please read carefully All your preferred schools have applied their admissions criteria to your application. The highest preference school able to offer a place to your child, or an appropriate alternative school with availability, is now available to view. Your child will automatically be added to the waiting list of any school/s of a higher preference. The offer should be accepted online by 15 March 2021. If you have been offered a school other than your first preference - the higher preference school(s) had more applications than places to offer and your child had a lower priority than other applicants under the school’s published admissions criteria. If you have been offered your first preference school - any applications to lower preferences are normally deleted as no longer required. Please see below sub heading ‘Adding new preferences and reinstating lower preferences’. • London Borough of Bromley schools, other than Bishop Justus, Newstead Wood and St Olave’s, offer the majority of their places on distance, priority being given to applicants living closest. If you have not received an offer it is because your address has not been reached. All available places have been allocated to those with higher criteria priority or who live closer. • If the school is in another borough and you would like more information about the reason why your child was not offered a place, contact the admissions team of the Local Authority in which the school is situated. Contact details for Bromley secondary schools and neighbouring authorities can be found further down. Waiting Lists If you have not been offered your first preference, your child’s name will automatically remain in the published over-subscription order on the waiting list of any schools of a higher preference to the one already offered. Only a small number of places become available to be re-offered so there is no guarantee of a higher preference. Accepting the place at the offered school does not affect the position on a higher preference waiting list. • From 20 May 2021 waiting list information for Bromley schools will be available from Bromley school admissions. • Waiting lists for Bromley schools will be maintained in over subscription order until 31 December 2021. To re-join waiting lists after this date, new applications should be made through the In Year process. • Co-ordination continues after national offer day managed by the relevant Local Authority. • Schools do not hold information about waiting lists. Adding new preferences Requests to add additional preferences must be made on the Secondary Additional Preference Form. This form is available to download from 2 March 2021 via www.bromley.gov.uk. • Additional preferences (Bromley schools not previously included as a preference on the original application) will be processed after 5 May 2021. • Any out-borough school not previously included as a preference will be processed according to the relevant Local Authority’s own timetable. • Total preferences cannot exceed 9 per applicant. Requests in writing to reinstate lower preferences will only be considered in exceptional circumstances, to be processed from June 2021. Appeals Under the School Standards & Framework Act 1998, you have the right of appeal at any school unable to offer you a place. All secondary schools in Bromley are Voluntary Aided or Academies and deal with their own appeal arrangements. Please contact the appropriate school direct for further details by Friday 26 March 2021. If you wish to appeal for a school outside LB Bromley, please refer to the website of the relevant admissions authority for confirmation of their procedures and deadlines.
