The ideals of the NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY are Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. To be eligible for membership in this society, a student must first possess a high scholastic average. Then he is judged by the faculty and present Honor Society members on the basis of character, leadership, and service.
It is hoped that those students honored by membership in the National Honor Society will continue to strive toward a high, respect- able goal.

The Black Masque is a dramatic organization open only to Juniors and Seniors who are in- terested in acting, costuming, production, and make-up. This year 75 upperclassman joined this organization, thus making them eligible for open try-outs before any play was cast. Characters for all plays are chosen on the basis of talent alone; however, the production staff is selected on a voluntary basis.

RED CROSS COUNCIL
A new ogranization in Albemarle High School, the Red Cross Council has undertaken many worthwhile projects. Two of the council's most outstanding achievements were raising $150.00 for a chest to send overseas and raising enough money to send a Red Cross repre- sentative to a Leadership Training Center in Green Cove, N. C.
The council is made up of Homeroom Representatives and officers elected by them.

The Diversified Occupations group is composed of thirty-nine 11th and 12th grade students training for a specific trade. The vocational students attend school in the morning -and work in the afternoon. This enables a student to find his vocation .vhile attending school, and at the same time serve his apprenticeship in his chosen trade.

The honor of being in the Monogram Club comes to the students who have earned letters in the various sports in the school.
Each year the club sponsors different events to raise money to buy sweaters for the members. The sweaters are navy blue with a white letter. The
