FESTIVAL QUOTES

“I just wanted to send a quick thank you for hosting us at the Loft Festival. It was such an honor to be the closing night film and to engage with your WONDERFUL audience. And what an evening it was! A packed house in your gorgeous theater, a beautiful performance by the always talented Calexico, and champagne/cake/fire throwers! Wow!” - Tessa Moran (The Guardians)

“No thank YOU for being the best of the best film festivals with the best hospitality in the damn universe!! Wish I could’ve stayed longer!” - John Maringouin (Ghostbox Cowboy)

“Thank you for such warm welcome and hospitality. Everything went so smoothly. Had a wonderful time in Tucson and even ran this morning.” - Gabi Hayes (Skid Row Marathon)

“I am an indigenous Mazahua woman from Central Mexico. I just wanted to say thank you so much for the documentary The Guardians. I grew up adorning crops with wild flowers waiting for the monarchs to arrive each Fall, and I try to go to Mexico each year to wait for them in our forest. I am an immigrant like the monarchs^_^! We’re still taking care of the forest in Mexico and watching the documentary was very touching. Thank you!!” - Victoria J. Zadrogra

The 9th annual Loft Film Fest successfully continued its mission to bring world-class films, guests and special events to Tucson (and beyond!) with screenings at The Loft Cinema and, as part of our On the Road series, at outdoor venues throughout Arizona, including Flagstaff, Camp Verde, Dragoon, Douglas, Bisbee and more!

This year’s Film Fest kicked off with our splashiest opening night event yet - the sold-out Tucson theatrical premiere of Alfonso Cuarón’s highly-acclaimed, buzzed-about Mexican drama, Roma, which later went on to win three Academy Awards, including Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Foreign Language Film.

Closing night festivities also generated excitement and brought true Tucson flavor to the Fest, with a sold-out live concert by internationally- renowned Tucson rock band, Calexico, performing with the new documentary, The Guardians, for which they also provided the score.

Thank you to our title sponsor, Desert Diamond Casinos and Entertainment, whose continued support provides the financial foundation for the Loft Film Fest and Loft Film Fest on the Road, and to the National Endowment for the Arts, who provided invaluable support for the second year in a row.
